About The Team You’ll Be Joining
The ShiftCare Engineering team is on a mission to make ShiftCare accessible to more businesses across Australia & the United States, but this is just the beginning of our journey. Doubling in revenue every year, we are having a fun time scaling our systems and processes appropriately.
Positioned within ShiftCare’s Engineering team as a QA Lead, you will help us in bridging the gap between reliability and feature development. We treat our work as a craft and are passionate about reliability, our customers, and doing more with less.
The Role
You will be expected to own Quality Assurance within ShiftCare and play a pivotal role in driving the evolution of our testing strategy and release pipelines. You’ll be expected to set the standards of quality assurance and testing within ShiftCare, acting as the subject matter expert of QA - elevating the quality and reliability of both our SaaS product and engineering team.
Working closely with the rest of the Engineering team, you will play a considerable part in defining ShiftCares feature release lifecycle, testing methodology and bug escalation processes, ensuring we deliver a high-quality and reliable product.
You will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a high degree of quality and reliability across our SaaS product
- Developing detailed test strategies in collaboration with Engineering and Product teams.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining feature complete and robust automated testing frameworks to catch bugs early, before they get to customers.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, reliable and scalable load testing frameworks to simulate real world traffic in staging environments.
- Lead bug management processes, including tracking and triage sessions.
- Upskilling and guiding our engineering team in Quality Assurance best practices
What You'll Do In The Role
- You’ll own quality assurance within ShiftCare. Defining your vision and strategy and driving it to completion. Providing strong guidance and leading the evolution of QA within our SaaS product.
- Lead by example, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to build out robust, reliable and scalable tests to maintain a high degree of quality and reliability within our SaaS product.
- Utilise tools such as NewRelic, CloudWatch and mixpanel to track anomalies, and verify reported bugs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes, including code reviews of unit tests, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to our SaaS platform, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
- Identify, coordinate/implement areas of improvement in our testing processes.
- Own and coordinate the release of features.
- Lead by example in terms of excellence, reliability, attention to detail, evaluating priorities and risks, designing scalable solutions, etc.
About You
- You have proven experience in software quality assurance with a few years of experience being one of the most senior QA engineers in a team (or teams), where you have been the owner or leader of QA, defining your own work and have learnt some lessons along the way.
- You are passionate about learning, continuous improvement, and excellence in Quality assurance as a craft, and love nurturing a culture that embraces those values.
- You are proficient in writing automated tests with a strong background in multiple testing frameworks - we use Cypress, Rspec, Jest, but are open-minded about the tools we use.
- You have strong experience in designing API and UI tests, with a good understanding of integration challenges in complex systems.
- You have experience in replicating real world load using a load testing framework - artillery, k6 or an alternative.
