Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
We are currently recruiting for a QA Inspector to work in our CPM Department within our busy manufacturing site in Merthyr Tydfil.
This is a full time position working from 7.00pm to 3.00am - Monday to Friday with a salary of £14.44 per hour.
Responsible for ensuring that all products leave the plant within the legislative and/or customer specified limits.
Responsibilities / KPI’s:
- Auditing: Conducting a diverse range of internal audits across the site. Key audit types include:
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Glass & Perspex (G & P)
- Fabrication/Maintenance
- Foreign Body
- Labelling & Traceability
- Label Verification: Ensure that all labels meet high-quality standards with accurate and relevant information. Confirm that all product claims are validated during the labelling process (e.g., customer-approved, Organic, etc.).
- Raw Material Intake: Verify that all incoming raw materials comply with site specifications and requirements.
- Non-Conformances: Oversee non-conformance findings, coordinating actions taken and reporting to the appropriate department managers and suppliers to ensure all necessary corrective actions are completed for daily issues.
- Supplier Communication: Share inspection results, including quality claims and rejections, with the supply base.
- CCPS, Operational Pre-Requisite Points Verification, Product and Process Inspections: Ensure timely and standard-compliant checks are conducted according to the H.A.C.C.P. plan. Inspections include:
- Metal Detection
- Product, Packaging & Tare Accuracy
- Product and Environmental Temperature Monitoring
- Environmental Swabbing
- Product/Specification Match
- Pricing & Additional Label Checking
- Product Quality, Testing and Assessments: Ensure all products leaving the factory conform to the limits and criteria outlined in the relevant customer specifications (e.g., weight, fat content, colour, temperature & presentation). Gather products and materials for testing.
- Equipment and Scale Calibration: Perform calibration checks on various equipment, including scales and other machinery. These checks should be done before, during, and after daily production operations, covering (but not limited to):
- Scales
- Metal Detector Units
- Steriliser Unit (Temperature Checking)
- Gas Analysers
- Documents: Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and legibly, as most documentation generated by the Q.A. Department must be retained as part of the site's due diligence defense.
- Audit Ready: Support the effort to maintain high site standards and guarantee that all areas are always prepared for audits.
- Troubleshoot and Assist: Address any quality issues and collaborate with all teams to achieve the required standards.
