We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer preferably with experience in React Native Detox testing to join our team. Through comprehensive testing strategies and tools, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our mobile applications.
Specific work responsibilities include the following:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust E2E test suite using Detox for React Native applications.
- Execute manual and automated test cases, analyze results, and report findings to development and product teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define testing strategies and ensure seamless integration with development workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test suites, continuously improving stability and performance.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate testing processes and enhance test coverage.
- Document and communicate testing procedures, best practices, and reports.

- Collaborate with a dynamic Tokyo-based team and engage with colleagues across the US to drive Mercari’s mission of facilitating buying and selling, preparing for future challenges in a global context.
- Actively contribute innovative ideas to enhance our engineering community.
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the US market to secure Mercari’s growth and relevance.
- Acquire new domain expertise, skills, and technologies that are valuable and applicable to our evolving needs.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of testing frameworks and tools, and experience in writing automated test scripts preferrably with React Native Detox framework.
- 5 or more years of experience in QA engineering with a focus on Android & iOS mobile application testing.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes.
- Experience with debugging tools and methodologies in mobile app development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with React Native developing and testing on both iOS and Android platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with other testing tools like Cypress or Playwright
- Having example Detox tests even for simple personal projects or demos
