Primary Function of Position:
The Public Affairs Specialist will work with the Director Government Affairs DACH supporting the development and execution of the regional Government Affairs strategy. This includes: development of messaging and materials for a variety of internal and external audiences as well as ongoing engagement and management of your own network of stakeholders. In addition, this means create concepts and be responsible for policy focused events and activities at the company’s Berlin office and at other locations within the MEE region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate political developments relevant for Intuitive Surgical
- Develop messaging and materials for a variety of internal and external audiences, particularly policy makers and influencers
- Execute communication and lobby campaigns
- Identify, engage and manage stakeholders
- Conceptualize, develop, prepare and execute stakeholder audience and policy focused meetings, events and activities in the company’s Berlin office
- Coordinate with public affairs agencies and project partners from across the health care and health policy community
- Support government affairs and public policy activities in Austria and Switzerland
- Participate at meetings and conferences - with up to 20% travelling.
Berlin Office / Facility related responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all Office related activities while ensuring on an on-going basis the proper administration of the office and its alignment to highest standards.
- Act as the central recipient of all security access tools and further administrate any safety outcomes namely in relation with fire contingencies and procedures (electronic access devices, alarms, etc.), implements EHS guidelines as appropriate.
- Manage contracts and purchase requisitions for on-going supplies and assigned projects
Skills/Job Requirements:
In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must have:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. economics, politics, healthcare)
- 2-4 years professional experience in public affairs, healthcare, government environment
- Excellent organizational skills, especially ability to monitor and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Hands-on approach to event management and successful track record preparing events for large audiences
- Ability to convey and clearly communicate complex policies and issues
- Superior policy oriented writing and editing skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to work independently in coordination with direct manager, local organization and cross-functional global teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced matrix environment
- General interest and experience in healthcare, science, and/or technology
- Previous experience in medtech or a pharmaceutical company, previous political or healthcare policy experience and/ or previous experience in an international/ multi-country capacity are a plus
- MS Office proficient
- Fluency in German and English
- This position is based in Berlin (Germany), travel expected about 20%
