About the role:

The Hardware Development team is relied upon by nearly every engineer in the Hardware organization at Skydio. We support others by championing new technology, honing our own technical skills, and constantly improving the space where all Skydio Hardware is designed and prototyped.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Prototype Lab Specialist who can work cross-functionally within the Hardware Development team to maintain and optimize the spaces where many engineers work to research, design, prototype and test complex hardware systems.

How you'll make an impact:

Perform equipment installation, infrastructure improvements, machine repair, machine maintenance and the disposal of waste. When necessary, coordinate with vendors and contractors to arrange this work.
Propose and support new facility layouts and improvements to optimize the spaces for safe, effective hardware design, prototyping, testing, and the use of many types of tools.
Fabricate fixtures and make infrastructure improvements with manual wood and metal fabrication techniques.
Run, maintain, and improve our suite of 3D printers.

What makes you a good fit:

3-5 years of hands-on experience in lab management or working hands-on in a shared lab environment
Experience working with and effectively communicating with vendors and contractors to improve spaces where hardware reliability is tested and rapidly produced with prototyping/machining tools.
Extensive knowledge of the challenges of working in a shared prototyping environment with dozens of engineers
Proficiency in the use of fabrication tools for processing wood and metal, such as saws, drill presses, grinders, and sanders
Enthusiastic tendencies towards solving fabrication challenges quickly with the parts on-hand
A passion for optimizing the work of cross-functional teams by helping to drive improvements that have wide scope and impact
The ideal candidate also has experience with a CAD tool

Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000-145,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
