Project Manager – Specialized Consulting Center: Essential Services
Manage and lead Guidewire Essential Services projects that span Implementation as well as Production services. We are looking for a proactive, outcome-focused Project Manager that will oversee delivery of several concurrent Essential Services engagements, while also helping define and evolve a consistent approach for delivery of these services to our cloud customers.
The Role
As a Project Manager, you will work with new and existing customers in managing all the aspects of the Essential Services offerings, partnering with Guidewire consultant developers and test engineers in a customer-facing role to ensure successful project delivery of Essential Services. In this very visible role, the Project Manager will also be accountable for managing the associated P&L and reporting the project's financials to Guidewire leadership on a regular basis. This role will report directly to the Essential Services Portfolio Director under the “Sales, Operations, and Delivery” vertical within the Specialized Consulting Center.
Expectations
- Ensure consistent delivery of Essential Services offerings
- Support, define and execute on Specialized Consulting Center (SCC) strategic initiatives
- Work closely with the RMO, in partnership with Essential Services Portfolio Director, on necessary changes to resource requests and assignments required to carry out the Essential Services
- Ability to effectively manage project’s associated P&L and deliver within budget
- Work closely with the customers/SI/Guidewire Project Manager that is delivering the implementation, and align on the plans to deliver each of the Essential Services offerings.
- Ability to coordinate internal resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule and budget
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant customer stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes
- Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels (internal and external) and escalate issues, as necessary, that would impact the Essential Services team from delivering on their commitments
- Identify opportunities to position additional Essential Services on active projects.
- Flexibility to occasionally travel onsite to Customers
Required skills/experience
- Very strong communication skills and ability to work on fast-paced projects, requiring interaction with key stakeholders within the Customer’s Business and IT areas.
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through of activities
- Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies to ensure release delivery, controls, issue resolution, and risk mitigation
- Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project, setting quality standards and assessing risks
- Experience managing and delivering Guidewire, self-managed or cloud, implementation projects
- Experience working with people across multiple geographies
- Strong ability to direct a team and achieve needed deliverables.
- Skill in working with implementation partners and running multi-functional projects
- Understanding of the P&C insurance industry to be able to have effective discussions with customers.
- Technical background, ideally in a SaaS environment
- End user experience in using SalesForce and PSA in managing projects, financials, and resources.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills within challenging situations.
