Michigan Works!, a subsidiary of Kinexus Group, is proactive in seeking opportunities to enhance workforce development efforts. The Project Manager will implement an evolving list of projects that support workforce development efforts. Key working relationships for the Project Manager include collaboration with various teams throughout the organization as well as with a myriad of external partners.

The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of successfully delivering assigned grant-funded projects with varying time frames and funding sources.  The Project Manager will drive cross-team collaboration to implement quality workforce development strategies that meet the needs of job seekers and employers.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

The Project Manager will assume responsibility  – fiscal, compliance and programmatic – for the delivery of each project. The Project Manager will:

  • Ensure compliance with the project application, all applicable federal, state and other regulations listed in the project award, and adhering to organizational policies
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and implement the project in collaboration with internal teams and partners
  • Monitor implementation and performance; provide regular status reports against established milestones and deliverables in collaboration with Intake/Outcomes Specialists.
  • Track project expenses to ensure alignment with expectations.
  • Maintain records suitable for audits including performance data entry into required data systems.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in adherence to reporting deadlines
  • Coordinate project teams and work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and funding agencies to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, funds, equipment, and materials, and make adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate project outcomes and impact, gather feedback from participants and stakeholders, and make recommendations for future improvements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to workforce development, and apply this knowledge to enhance project effectiveness.                        

MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
  • Project management experience, particularly grant-funded projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passionate about serving others and the community.
  • Capability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Solid computer skills and ability in Microsoft, Excel, Power Point and virtual meeting platforms (ex: Google Hangout, Zoom).
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel approximately 30% of the time between Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.
