About the Job:

The Facilities Management department is looking for a Project Manager with a strong focus on tenant and third-party improvement projects to oversee the planning, organization, and management of design, remodeling, and construction projects at the San Diego International Airport. This role will manage diverse and impactful projects, including airfield operations, terminal building renovations, exterior roadway maintenance, and landscaping initiatives. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of facilities maintenance project management, design, and development, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality results. As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the airport's infrastructure and design, leaving a lasting impact on the many facets of the airport that you can take pride in for years to come.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with relevant stakeholders to review and approve facilities-related plans, ensuring they meet airport standards, and oversee construction and closeout phases of projects.
  • Oversee Facility Projects: Provide oversight for facilities management projects, including terminal, landside, and airside renovations, ensuring compliance with airport standards and regulations.
  • Monitor Project Progress: Track project timelines, facilitate regular meetings, communicate updates, and address potential issues proactively.
  • Manage Project Scope: Define roles and responsibilities within the project team, oversee scope changes, and prepare necessary reports and documentation.
  • Lead and Develop Team: Plan, organize, and evaluate staff performance, set development goals, and provide coaching to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Contract Management: Administer RFPs, negotiate contracts, and supervise contract execution to meet project requirements.

  6. Leveraging Technology - Effectively uses electronic information and associated systems.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For***:

  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience in a public agency or consulting organization focused on program management, project management, construction management and design, at least three of which were in a management capacity; and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in architecture, project management, construction management or a closely related field.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority’s vehicle insurance policy.

Preferred Education, Certification, and Licenses:

  • Project Management experience in a medium or large airport.
  • Master’s degree in project management, aviation management, or a closely related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Accredited Airport Executive (AAE), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accreditation, or Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt).
