Project Manager - External Contractor (Remote Site)

Job Purpose:

Vivo Energy Guinea is embarking on a construction project where an External Contractor is needed for a fixed term period to:

• Manage the life cycle of THE PROJECT
• Act as single point of authority, leading & managing all aspects of the contract, which covers Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Consultants and Subcontractors to execute the works.

Dimension:

1. Main Depot

• Storage LFO

- 2 x Vertical Tanks 1000 m3 each

- 2 x Self-Bunded Tanks 75 m3 each

• Storage HFO

-   2 x Vertical Tanks 1000 m3 each

Principal Accountabilities:

• Performs the day-to-day management of the project and has specific accountability for leading and managing the project within the approved constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver the specified requirements, deliverables and customer satisfaction.
• Focus on creating a project environment for VE Project Management team and the sub-contractors to successfully execute their assigned contract scopes.
• Develop quality tools related to different project work packages (civil work, mechanical work, electrical work, etc.), monitor quality execution and record quality reports.
• Keep the sub-contractors informed on all facts, variations relevant to the project.
• Manage the coordination of interfaces within contractors.
• Develop a “Project Management Plan”.
• Communicate and deal with various stakeholders that are impacted by the work or the result of the work.
• Oversee the Project Kick-off Meeting and subsequent project review meetings.
• Oversee and monitor project execution/ installation, supervising quality control checks.
• Monitor project schedule and critical milestones agreed to in the contracted Scope of Work.
• Develop and implement the required strategies to recover any project delay in line with project budget.
• Issue periodic (Weekly) reports to Vivo Energy Guinea management and the Client on project status.
• Identify any problems or implementation concerns and recommend solutions.
• Identify project scope changes and apply management change process
• Verify & approve Interim Payment Certificates in accordance with the contracted scope, in line with the work accomplished.
• Bring change orders and contract disputes to Vivo Energy management’s attention for resolution.
• Oversee mechanical completion, pre-functional testing, commissioning and final project acceptance.
• Ensure all final project documents are prepared and delivered (e.g., as-built drawings, warrantees, spare parts list, operation and maintenance manuals).
• Prepare final report for management including lessons learned.
• Solve project technical issues by identifying alternative technical solution, optimization solution and innovation solution.
• Manage project budgets in an effective, efficient manner.
• Ensure that ongoing inspections to enforce the HSSE Management System requirements, plus specific requirements of local legislation are carried out:

-         This includes arranging a program of regular safety inspections and meetings involving all sub- contractors.

-         Strict reporting and follow up of any safety, health or environmental incidents, potential incidents and “near-misses”.

-         Thorough documented investigation of root causes for any incidents or “near misses” including an action plan to prevent reoccurrence on all sites.

• Complete any other job-related duties as assigned.

• Project completion in line with the approved budget, agreed milestones and quality requirements.
• Ensure project is executed without HSSE incidents
• Smooth project commissioning

Requirements

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• University degree in Engineering or related fields
• 10+ years hand-on experience with a strong technical background construction on mining projects
• Excellent organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities

Ability to maintain effective communication between all stakeholders including Client and to propose solutions to complex and critical issues

• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
• Strong personality to able to interact with a difficult & demanding Client    
• Fluent in French & English
