Position Summary

PMA has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Manager. This full-time role supports a long-term multibillion-dollar capital expansion program. PMA provides program and project controls and project management support to this utility client.

The successful candidate will provide project/program controls and management and related technical support services as a vital member of a larger PMA team supporting the Capital Programs Department. Daily activities include attending meetings with clients, following up on action items, and producing work products and monthly reporting/dashboards.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist project managers in maintaining project schedules, total project cost estimates, and status reports.
  • Assist in the development of project plans to achieve project outcomes.
  • Work across the program to define and track actions.
  • Assist with meeting management (invites, coordination, etc.) and recording key decisions and actions.
  • Assist project owners in highlighting risks and documenting roadblocks.
  • Monitor project schedule progress and actual expenditures vs. budget and identify developing problem areas.
  • Assist project managers in updating and monitoring project information in project management controls systems and project information websites.
  • Support the development of weekly/monthly cost and status reports for the project team as well as weekly senior level management reports.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in project planning and delivery is required.
  • Exceptional ability to stay organized and handle multiple action items required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Teams required.
  • Working knowledge of schedule and PMIS systems or similar software preferred.
  • Experience in project cost and schedule management is preferred.
  • Experience in Net Zero, Resiliency, and Sustainability is preferred.

Additional Requirements
 
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
 
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
