We are seeking a talented Project Account to add to our team. The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records for our projects, ensuring timely and efficient billing, and providing valuable financial insights.
Major Responsibilities:
Reviews new and aging projects in the accounting system, including budgets and cost codes, to ensure proper revenue recognition.
Track project costs, revenues, and expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project profitability and identify potential risks or variances from the budget.
Track invoice payments and follow up on outstanding invoices.
Support the reconciliation of client accounts and help resolve billing discrepancies.
Prepare project-specific financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, highlight potential issues, and provide insights to project managers.
Assist managers in developing and monitoring project budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend adjustments to project plans.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including accounting standards and internal controls.
Work closely with managers, team members, and other departments to gather information and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
CPA or similar certification preferred
Required Experience:
5+ years of experience in project accounting or a related field.
Experience in the construction, roofing and/or renovations industry desired.
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of project management methodologies.
Experience with ERP systems.
Proficient in Microsoft office suites
