The Institute for Strategic Dialogue-US (ISD-US) is a fiercely independent, non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to safeguarding democracy and reversing the rising tide of hate, extremism and disinformation in the United States.

Launched at the United Nations in 2015, Strong Cities is an independent global network of cities and other local governments dedicated to addressing all forms of hate, extremism and polarisation at a local level. Strong Cities fills a critical gap in efforts that have traditionally overlooked the unique roles that sub-national governments can play in preventing and responding to these threats, complementing both existing security-led measures and grassroots efforts led by civil society stakeholders.

Our benefits

Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per annum 

Location

The role

The Program Manager will work as part of the Strong Cities Management Unit to deliver project activities with a range of city-level stakeholders in the United States, as part of a newly funded program and partnership with the National League of Cities, focusing on mayors and other local elected leaders and local governments across the United States. The role will also support Strong Cities programming and partnership opportunities across the North America region as part of its North America Hub.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on project delivery, including stakeholder management and planning with local government, subject-matter experts (SMEs), civil society organizations (CSOs), youth, and other local stakeholders as required. Identifying and classifying potential online and offline threats 
  • Conducting research into city-level approaches, policies, and programs.
  • Representing Strong Cities Network’s work in North America and, where appropriate, other Strong Cities’ efforts, with government and civil society stakeholders in North America
  • Advising to the wider Strong Cities team on prevention programming 
  • Line managing, supporting, and developing junior staff working on Strong Cities North America, where appropriate.
  • Assisting in project administration and ensuring that key project and grant management systems and tools are used effectively.
