Alation is seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to drive our cross-functional strategic initiatives in a growing business. As a Program Manager in Strategy & PMO, you will report to Alation’s Senior Director of Strategy & PMO and be responsible for successful company-wide project execution and delivery. You will also be involved in helping provide strategic direction for existing and new strategic initiatives and company-wide projects.

This critical role requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills as well as a background in strategy, consulting, and project management (please note that this is not an IT/product-related role).

What you'll do:

  • Manage our company’s strategic initiatives to achieve current year and long-term goals.
  • Work with the executive team and extended leadership team to identify, track, and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Run cross-functional projects and ensure team members have clear timelines and deliverables.
  • Document each project’s creation, development, and execution and the project’s scope, budget, ROI, and justification.
  • Set deadlines, prioritize tasks, assign team members to various deliverables, identify interdependencies, define risks, and adhere to budget.
  • Draft presentations and documents to succinctly communicate and frame the strategy to internal and external constituents which could include the Board, leadership team, and/or potential investors.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels to keep stakeholders informed of project status, risks, and changes.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and drive process improvements.
  • Keep the executive team apprised of progress.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Preferred 6-8 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in managing the lifecycle of a project with large project teams from several functional areas.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects within a growing organization.
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills.
  • Background in consulting.
  • Strong skills in creating and maintaining project and program plans, including risks, actions, issues, and dependencies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to influence others at all levels.
