Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses.

The role

As the Program Manager at Mission Bit, you will play a crucial role in managing and executing our programs. You will lead a team of passionate professionals to ensure the success of our programs, drive impact, and promote positive change in the lives of the students we serve. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of specific programs, ensuring their successful implementation, and contributing to the organization’s mission. This role requires a strong commitment to education and effective program management skills.

This position is a full-time, hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA. In-person work is required at least twice a week, depending on the program schedule. In-person work will include travel to the office and around the Bay Area. You must live in the San Francisco Bay Area to be considered for this role.

Work hours

  • Monday through Friday during regular business hours, plus some evenings and weekends required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage the administration and maintenance of our Salesforce database, ensuring accurate tracking of student data, program metrics, and donor information.
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of Mission Bit's Explore Code Academy, ensuring the program aligns with organizational goals.
  • Oversee Mission Bit’s portfolio of other educational programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Optimize all forms related to student registration, feedback, and impact measurement using Form Assembly.
  • Ensure the collection of impact data through registration forms, surveys, and testimonials.
  • Analyze and report on program data to track student progress, program impact, and other key metrics.
  • Manage the operations of the volunteer program, including tracking volunteer activities, maintaining communication channels, and coordinating volunteer placement, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Oversee the Volunteer Coordinator, ensuring effective management of volunteer activities and resources to support program goals.
  • Implement and evaluate program strategies to enhance student outcomes and engagement.
  • Oversee student admissions and enrollment processes for all classes, ensuring efficiency and streamlined operations.
  • Manage student recruitment and retention strategies to maintain high attendance rates.
  • Foster team building and cohesion while providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with tech companies, schools, and community organizations to provide student opportunities and support our mission.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including students, parents, partners, volunteers, and alumni.
  • Lead and moderate meetings, workshops, orientations, and events.
  • Support interdepartmental communication, programs, and services, taking on special projects and events as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • 2-3 years in program management and educational leadership, preferably within a non-profit or educational setting.
  • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams, including providing mentorship and professional development to team members.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new software (ie. Salesforce, Notion)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, adopting and developing best practices.
  • Self-motivated, capable of adapting to changing priorities and providing innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in program evaluation and impact assessment.

Compensation

$68,000 - $70,000/year
