Program Director, Master Teacher-Leader Acceleration

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Superintendent and Network Talent Development Team, the Program Director of Master Teacher-Leader Acceleration will be responsible for envisioning and launching a multi-year program to accelerate the development of promising teacher-leaders at Democracy Prep Agassi Campus (DPAC).  The ultimate goal is to build a cohort of teacher-leaders that are driving academic outcomes at DPAC and contributing to the development of other faculty, as well.  Core to this will be developing the professional development curriculum for both pedagogy and leadership, as well as identifying the core markers of success in the program.  In addition to the programmatic elements of the role, as a member of the leadership team, the Director will support with other instructional, cultural, and operational tasks as assigned by the Regional Superintendent.  Please note that this is a campus based-position and is grant-funded through the 27-28 school year.

What You’ll Do

Phase 1: Program Ideation (Spring)

  • Curriculum Design: Develop a scope and sequence and subsequent materials for teacher and leader acceleration programming
  • Regional Context Building: Observe and provide feedback to teachers to better understand regional strengths and areas of growth
  • Candidate Cultivation: Meet with current leadership and staff to identify driven, humble, and results-oriented teammates who may be a good fit for the program
  • Democracy Prep Leadership Context Building: Internalize Democracy Prep’s current frameworks for evaluating and coaching teachers and leaders to ensure alignment with programmatic materials
  • Provide instructional coaching to a pilot cohort of teachers in the program

Phase 2: Program Rollout and Cohort Creation (Spring/Summer)

  • Present programmatic goals, experience, and application to DPAC Leadership and Staff
  • Facilitate a structured interviewing process for selecting candidates for this ~two-year commitment equitably
  • Plan and facilitate comprehensive induction for all incoming program participants

Phase 3: Teacher Acceleration ~Year 1, SY25-26

  • Provide high impact on-going coaching for all teachers in program to ensure they grow urgently and can serve as model teachers on campus
  • Deliver regular PD for this cohort of teachers to develop their mindset and pedagogical skill sets
  • Routinely codifies and archives curriculum and development materials for usage across network
  • Monitor student results from their classrooms and provide teachers’ feedback, ensuring they are meeting or exceeding academic goals
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of teachers in year one
  • Create other teacher development learning opportunities as needed (i.e. school visits, workshops, targeted co-observations, etc.)

Phase 4: Teacher-Leader Acceleration ~Year 2, SY26-27

  • Continue to provide high impact coaching and PD on Teacher Acceleration
  • Introduce and layer in targeted programming to develop leadership skills
  • Ensure all teacher-leaders receive feedback on their leadership on campus (some of the program participants may be in formal leadership positions, like Grade Level Chair, but all will have opportunities to lead)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching and leadership in year two

Work and Experience

  • 2+ years experience with a demonstrated track record of improving teacher efficacy and outcomes
  • 4+  years teaching experience and a history of being an exemplar of teaching and instruction
  • Track record of developing engaging professional development for adults 
  • Experience developing and executing on initiatives at the school and/or systems level
  • Strong history of partnering and communicating with school leadership (AP and Principal-level) to achieve joint results

Compensation 

Salary range is 92,400-113,520, commensurate with experience. Democracy Prep employees are provided with comprehensive benefits, and a working environment that includes the necessary technology and resources to succeed.
