Bellroy is hiring a

Product Quality Technologist

Collingwood, Australia

IN A NUTSHELL

Since we launched with a range of six wallets 13+ years ago, we now release about 50 new products a year (give or take). We’re growing, and our Production team, (key to getting all of these products and those yet to come, out into the world) is searching for a quality specialist to ensure our customers receive products they love and will continue to use for a long time.

Reporting to our Production and Quality Assurance Manager, you’ll be responsible for running our quality control and assurance process. You will oversee the inspection of batches at different stages of pre-production to bulk production, identifying quality issues and reviewing quality reports from both internal and external sources. You will communicate these findings with our overseas manufacturers and internal product development team to mitigate potential issues while maintaining QC documentation and quality data to ensure consistency throughout the product life cycle. Things change quickly and you’ll also be expected to improve processes and support our production team to develop and implement quality systems along the way.

Bring us your sharp eye for detail, passion for quality control and desire for continuous improvement. In return, we’ll provide you with quality products to work with, a great team to work alongside and impactful work.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…

  • 3+ years experience in a product development or quality control role (soft goods, accessories and apparel industry experience preferred)
  • Experience working with pre-production samples and bulk sample approval processes upholding quality standards using QC manuals
  • Experience with quality control methods with an understanding of industry standards, manufacturing processes and product timelines
  • Strong Excel/Google sheet and reporting skills
  • Exceptional time management and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • An uncanny ability to pick up potential issues or inconsistencies before they become a problem
  • The desire to work collaboratively in a team within a fast-paced, agile environment

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST MONTH, HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU MIGHT HAVE DONE

  • Examined the initial mass production samples alongside the supplier's final inspection and quality report to identify any disparities or areas requiring improvement according to the Production & Quality Handbook
  • Noticed some webbing issues and held discussions with suppliers regarding the discrepancies
  • Collaborated with suppliers to implement a corrective action plan specifically targeting the webbing issues for mass production
  • Oversaw the approval process for bulk samples, maintaining precise QC documentation and analysed the results to gain insights into mass production quality standards
  • Worked with our product developer to discuss potential quality issues in a new product and tweaked a process to facilitate quicker identification of such issues for future iterations
  • Assessed the upcoming production schedule, prioritising styles and colours for QC checks. Ensured alignment with both product quality performance objectives and the timeline for launching new products
  • Implemented and managed quality control processes, collaborating with suppliers and the quality audit team to ensure that final inspections meet or exceed established quality standards
  • Examined weekly return reports to identify recurring issues requiring further investigation
  • Worked closely with the customer experience team to compile and analyse customer feedback, informing ongoing quality improvement efforts.
