A skilled professional, the Product Owner helps ensure a delivery team can achieve its business goal through management of the team’s product backlog. The role, along with the delivery leads, shares accountability for product delivery. You will understand how to develop software products and how to give context to a delivery team. You will understand how to balance delivering the most valuable new features for our customers, generating and testing new ideas, ensuring the product is secure and code and product debt free while giving the team the space to self-improve.
- You’ll provide the delivery team with their PI & sprint goals. You’ll support organizing PI pre-/reviews and alignments to ensure we are matching commercial priority (product management) or function’s needs (internal systems)
- You’ll have an understanding of the businesses and the platforms’ commercial strategy and with your manager be able to translate this to your team and show your teams’ role in delivery of that strategy
- You’ll support cross-functional teams working to discover problems and solutions together. This team will include both delivery leads (engineering, design, DS, and AC), product manager and additional members, as needed, to solve the problem.
- You’ll be able to build strong relationships with other parts of the delivery community – design engineering, data science and operations.
- You will support day-to-day delivery within the team including escalations and reporting
- You’ll ensure there is a well-groomed, well-understood, prioritized backlog of work
- You’ll work with the delivery leads to generate estimates for new initiatives
- You’ll make space for engineering managers and scrum masters to generate and implement ideas to improve delivery
- Demonstrate strong tactical thinking
- Work with senor technology counterparts to choose the best delivery strategy e.g., buy vs build
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- You may coordinate / lead / coach individual contributors in which case the first three points may be via them

- Leadership and influencing skills, adapting your decision to different team styles
- A high level of team contribution, seek opportunities to provide input and support across the team and outside core areas of focus, role model effective collaboration
- Experience in Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of software development processes and methodologies
