We have recently formed a Product Operations team with the goal of delivering consistent product performance, and resolving issues through proactive monitoring and early intervention before customers are impacted.

Our product operations engineer will be an active contributor analysing data, enhancing our monitoring and ensuring that our products run smoothly, delivering consistent, reliable performance for our customers. Another key feature of this position will be provider management.

This is a junior/low-mid position reporting to the Product Operations Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

This individual will be part of a team who have the following as core responsibilities:

  • Monitoring Product Performance & maintaining agreed benchmarks.
    • Establish KPIs and Quality of Service (QoS) standards by product (ensure efficiency and success in meeting organization goals)
    • Generate reports on KPIs and SLAs
  • Analysis,  Reporting & Problem Management
    • Built alerting system to detect issues
    • Monitor for failures in product performance and service levels
    • Issue troubleshooting & engage right team on response needed
    • Deeper analysis for problem management, cross-team collaboration & issue follow-up
    • Resource forecasting for performance stability (IPs etc)
  • Management of IPs
    • Forecasting of capacity, geo needs based on trends, growth forecasts.
    • Managing costs & vendors
    • Market research
  • Producing Performance stats on our most popular domains, enabling Sales to communicate performance that we guarantee & the service we provide
  • Configuration updates which impact global setting or specific nodes which improve performance for all.

Requirements

    • ~2 years of experience in a similar role or any cross-functional technical role.
    • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (Kibana, Grafana, Google Data Studio, SQL).
    • Good understanding of computer networks (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS/SSL).
    • Good understanding of proxies, web-browsers, and internet protocols.
    • Working knowledge of web programming and standards (HTML, Javascript, APIs, REST, JSON, Mysql) is desirable.
    • Experience working with APIs and web services is desirable.
    • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX or Mac Terminal command-line tools.
    • Good understanding of Python or any common scripting language to be able to script and automate on the go.
    • Excellent verbal and written English skills and ability to articulate a complex system or problem based on the type of audience.
    • Strong team player with good analytical and technical writing skills.
    • Strong collaboration skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and commitments.
    • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
