We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Sr. Product Specialist II (Product Manager) to join our growing Product Management team. This role focuses on enhancing our search and recommendations platform, utilizing AI and generative AI to help users find the perfect design from billions of possibilities. You’ll work on everything from improving search algorithms to developing recommendation systems that deliver personalized experiences, driving conversion, supporting new business initiatives, and optimizing the platform for scale. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive Search & Recommendations Strategy: Collaborate on the development of an AI-powered, user-centric search and recommendations platform to enhance the design discovery process for Spoonflower’s customers.  
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with the Head of Product, lead Search & Recommendations Product Manager, CX, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap. Balance customer experience, growth opportunities, risk, and speed-to-market.  
  • AI & Data-Driven Insights: Use AI, machine learning, and data-driven insights to develop and refine algorithms that improve search relevance, accuracy, and personalization. Set hypotheses, conduct A/B tests, and use data to optimize and continuously improve user experience.
  • Customer-Centric Design Discovery: Understand customer pain points and moments of delight during the shopping journey. Identify and deliver innovative solutions that create a seamless and personalized shopping experience.  
  • Manage Product Roadmap: Create and maintain a comprehensive product backlog. Develop business cases, define user stories, set requirements, and create acceptance criteria for new features and enhancements.  
  • E-Commerce Expertise: Leverage e-commerce industry trends and marry them with Spoonflower’s unique product offering. Stay current on developments in AI, search, and recommendations platforms and translate them into meaningful product features.  
  • Platform Optimization & Scaling: Collaborate on platform improvements aimed at scaling Spoonflower’s search capabilities, managing technical trade-offs, and driving performance optimization across large-scale systems.  
  • Agile Product Management: Lead Agile product management processes, focusing on continuous improvement, hypothesis testing, and data-informed decision-making. Manage bug tracking, triaging, and resolution processes for efficient product iteration.  
  • Ability to Work East Coast Hours 
Qualifications:
  • Product Management Experience: 3-5 years of product management experience in an Agile environment, with a focus on search and recommendations platforms or relevant e-commerce/tech industry experience.  
  • Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with search platforms such as Solr, ElasticSearch, Algolia, or similar. Experience managing product backlogs and defining technical requirements for engineering teams. 
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proficiency in working with large-scale data, A/B testing, and using data analytics and reporting tools to make informed decisions. 
  • Tools Proficiency: Proficiency with Atlassian tools, including JIRA and Confluence, for managing product development in an Agile setting.  
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and design. 
Preferred Skills:
  • AI and Data Analytics: Strong understanding of AI and machine learning, especially in search, recommendation systems, and personalization. Familiarity with generative AI applications for metadata generation and normalization.
  • Platform Replatforming Experience: Experience leading or contributing to platform replatforming initiatives is highly desirable.
  • E-commerce & SEO Knowledge: Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), and social media channels and their interplay with .com platforms.
  • Agile Certification:Certified Scrum Product Owner or other Agile-related certifications are a plus.

The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed, and may not be applicable to other locations.
California : [$104,000-148,000]
Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island: [$104,000-135,500]
Colorado and Washington: [$104,000-125,500]
Nevada: [$97,750-135,500]

This opportunity can be remote, but candidates must reside in a state in which Shutterfly is registered to do business. This includes all US states except District of Columbia, North Dakota, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.
