Product Manager, Private Companies

Novata is a Public Benefit Corp and B-Corp created by a unique consortium of private market companies, charitable foundations and investors including the Ford Foundation, Microsoft, S&P Global, and Hamilton Lane. We’ve had incredible success in our first couple of years; we now serve 200 investors representing $12TN assets under management. This translates to 9,000 private companies already in the Novata ecosystem: you would be joining at a pivotal moment in Novata’s journey, as we deepen our relationships with these portfolio companies, as well as millions more SMEs worldwide. We are helping companies fulfill carbon and ESG reporting requirements, as well as sustainability regulations, like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

The role of the ESG Leaders in organisations has never been more demanding. As highlighted by a Reuters article, "growing demands... have meant that chief sustainability officers are particularly vulnerable to chronic stress from overwork." With multiple investors requesting annual sustainability data, RFP-driven custom data requests, and increasingly complex regulations like the CSRD in Europe, the workload can be overwhelming.

In September 2024, Novata launched Novata for Companies, a suite of flagship solutions including the Carbon Navigator, CSRD Solution, and sustainability data management tools. Already adopted by over 1,000 companies, these tools simplify sustainability reporting while empowering companies to act strategically.

Now, we are looking for a visionary Product Manager to take Novata for Companies to the next level, with a particular focus on scaling our CSRD Solution. This is a unique opportunity to drive adoption, functionality, and market presence, supporting thousands of businesses navigating sustainability challenges.

About the Role

As a Product Manager, you’ll report directly to the Head of Product and initially lead the growth and development of Novata’s CSRD Solution. You’ll be at the forefront of delivering impactful features, converting user feedback into actionable insights, and spearheading adoption efforts across Novata’s expanding client base.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, from engineering and design to advisory and regulatory experts, to ensure we deliver exceptional value to our users. This role requires someone with the vision to shape the future of sustainability reporting and the drive to execute effectively.

Requirements

• User-Centric Development: Engage directly with current and potential users to understand their challenges and translate these insights into prioritized product requirements.
• CSRD Product Expertise: Master the CSRD Solution’s features, functionalities, and gaps. You’ll be the go-to expert for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Team Empowerment: Provide engineers and designers with the context they need to build impactful features efficiently and effectively.
• Drive Adoption & Success: Set ambitious product adoption goals and contribute to the commercial success of the CSRD Solution and broader Novata for Companies offering.
• Roadmap Execution: Own and deliver your team’s product roadmap, ensuring timely execution sprint by sprint and quarter by quarter.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly across teams, including engineering, design, sales, marketing, and advisory, to drive product success.
• Sales Support: Partner with the sales team by demoing and advocating for the product, helping close deals.
• Industry Insight: Stay informed on global regulations and industry developments (e.g., GHG Protocol, CSRD) to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Strategic Contribution: Shape the strategy for Novata for Companies and contribute to broader company goals to support investors and companies worldwide.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years of B2B software product management, with a preference for sustainability-related experience.
• Product Instincts: Strong empathy and creativity to deeply understand user needs and build solutions that resonate.
• Project Management: Proven ability to deliver in iterative, agile environments with a focus on speed and impact.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Confidence in using data over opinions, combined with decisiveness to move forward without analysis paralysis.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, across tools like Zoom, Slack, and email.
• Collaboration: Skilled at working cross-functionally across time zones and teams with varying styles.
• Start-Up Mindset: Energetic, proactive, adaptable, and bold. You’re focused on long-term success and act with integrity while tackling challenges head-on.

What Would Make You Stand Out

• Familiarity with CSRD or other sustainability regulations and topics.
• Experience scaling a product from early adoption to mass market success.
• Exposure to an early-stage startup, as an employee or founder.
• A proven track record of driving meaningful business outcomes alongside great product outputs.

• A base salary up to £120k per annum depending on your experience plus stock options
