Product Manager – Packaging & Industrial Products
The Packaging & Industrial Products Manager, through strategic growth and effective management, is responsible for the achievement of profit and growth targets for our Industrial & Packaging line of products. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for gaps in the current products offered and an innovative mindset for filling them. By planning, developing, and executing marketing strategies this important product line will perform to its full potential. This position requires constant interaction between various company departments including sales, sales support, purchasing, finance and distribution. The incumbent reports directly to the Marketing Manager. The Packaging & Industrial Products Manager is an active participant in the sales cycle from end-to-end and provides educational support directly to customers, inside and outside sales staff.
Required Skills:
- Post-secondary education is a must and preference will be given to those with an undergraduate degree
- Proven ability to handle diverse responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment is a must to be successful in this position
- Sound analytical skills and acute attention to details
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Adept at strategic planning, creativity and problem solving

Key Responsibilities:
- Product Management – ongoing review of product line and evaluate competitive status, (marketing mix 4Ps, product, price, place, promotion)
- Sourcing - continually evaluate existing product manufacturers in terms of quality, cost, performance, competitiveness, training, etc.
- Identify new product opportunities and customer segments to maintain business growth.
- Joint sales calls and follow up with sales team, present new products, and programs to customers, plus required next steps. Travel in Eastern Canada as required
- Provide on-going in-depth market, industry, and competitive analysis
- Recommend appropriate pricing strategies for new and existing products, including sales incentives and commissions, while maintaining an awareness of corporate revenue and profitability goals
- Participate in the strategic preparation of proposals, quotations, and transactional price contracts
- Write clear, innovative, and compelling sales and marketing documents, annual product plan, overall staff training requirements, customer feedback, monthly reports, product line inventory performance, social media posts, etc.
- Help develop marketing materials to support sales launch of new or slow-moving products, including customer and staff training as required
- Regular interaction with operations team and supply chain partners
- Manage/champion special projects as/when they arise
Decision Making and Problem-Solving Duties:
- Achieving product line annual sales and gross profit targets
- Managing the marketing mix, 4Ps
- Sales compensation plan development
- Effective and recurrent training plans
- Managing tight timelines
