Working as a Product Lifecycle Engineer is a good way to get to know the IKEA products, way of working and be close to the core of our product development! It´s about making a better everyday life for the many people together with a longtime perspective. You will work with the heart of IKEA, our products together with a big network of stakeholders both in product development but also throughout the global IKEA value chain. 

Right now we are looking for several Product Lifecycle Engineers with Mechanical Design profile to following Range Areas at IKEA of Sweden in Älmhult:

  • RA Kitchen & Appliances
  • RA Dining & Outdoor
  • RA Beds & Mattresses

What is the role all about? 

The Product Lifecycle Engineer plays an important role in our business and is responsible for life cycle management of our products. It is through our products we secure our mission at IKEA: “To create a better everyday life for the many people”. As Product Lifecycle Engineer you have a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many people, around the globe. By securing that our product documentation is up-to-date and connected, you make sure that we can sell our products to the many people. With this in the center of the assignment, IKEA provides great opportunities to learn, develop and grow with this assignment as well as IKEA. 

To succeed in your role, you need to be able to take and give responsibility, lead yourself and work together with stakeholders from different functions and departments throughout our organisation. 

So, in short you are going to work with the following areas: 

  • Work in SolidWorks to create CAD and 2D drawings  
  • Manage technical product documentation including CAD in our PLM system Windchill 
  • Work close with product development teams 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the IKEA organization as well as suppliers 

Qualifications 

You are an Engineer in the beginning of your career, with a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. If you are having some experience in working with product documentation or similar it´s a plus. Your knowledge in 3D drawings, SolidWorks and Windchill will be considered as an added advantage. You work in a structured way with analytical skills and to take the lead in your own work, as well as in your contacts with internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, you have strong communication skills and building good relations based on trust. IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English both verbal and written.
