Product & Legislative Assurance Manager

The Product and Legislative Assurance Manager plays an essential role in growing talent in our business through collaboration and sharing best practices with the Manufacturing and Product Teams. You know how to be curious about their opportunities and how to be real with feedback and support. 

In this role, you will spearhead our efforts to excel in quality assurance and regulatory compliance. Your leadership will cultivate a culture of excellence, guiding our quality management strategies and embedding a proactive quality assurance mindset across the company. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Management Program that not only safeguards product quality but also fosters a culture in which all employees are actively engaged. You will lead and mentor a team of quality control and quality assurance specialists in order to implement, monitor, and follow up on required quality assurance strategies and programs.

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, the Product & Legislative Assurance Manager undertakes the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages a diverse team responsible for supporting the business in quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices (including incoming raw material quality inspection), and quality metrics
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of Good Manufacturing Practices in manufacturing across two factories in Canada in alignment with Canadian and US regulatory requirements
  • Collaborates cross-functionally and with counterparts to inform business decisions; plans/develops team objectives and strategies while continually evaluating and balancing responsibilities. Provides management and direction to the team to meet KPIs
  • Maintains current knowledge base of existing and emerging domestic and global regulatory trends, laws, and guidance documents pertaining to Quality Assurance. Collaborates with Regulatory Manager to ensure the Quality Management Program supports these regulations
  • Supports the Incoming Raw Material Quality Program, working with global counterparts to further develop this program, provide guidance on testing in relation to raw material technical specifications
  • Provides leadership to the quality team and participates in active quality investigations, root cause identification, risk management, documentation and implementation of CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Actions), and internal audits
  • Collaborates with manufacturing rooms to implement finished product testing within manufacturing. Supports these teams in maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Provides support with the values and ethics initiatives of the business
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communication and relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, counterparts, and vendors
  • Oversees all product commercialization initiatives from a quality perspective, including establishing/maintaining various product attributes, laboratory analysis etc, and ensuring products meet consumer’s quality expectations and regulatory standards before release

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Based in Vancouver or Etobicoke with ability to work in Lush office/factory buildings
  • 7+ years industry experience, including Quality Assurance , with at least 3-5 years of management within the quality functions of a Food/Cosmetic/Natural Health Product company
  • Extensive knowledge of operations in North American quality environments, gained through formal and informal training, interactions, research, experience, as well as detailed knowledge of relevant guidelines and policy documents
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes
  • Strong communication skills, ability to promote learning and development; can have difficult conversations
  • Experience with change management processes, influencing, and negotiation
  • Adapts well and can manage stress in a fast paced and changing work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline
  • Knowledge of ISO standards

Job Type: Regular, Full Time. Hybrid position. A minimum of 4 days on-site is required.

Base salary range is determined based on Vancouver market assessment. May vary depending on location of the successful candidate
