Lead Software Engineer for Power and Performance should design, implement, and test power and performance features based on Industry standards for Solid State Drives (SSDs). The SSD PnP Lead Software Engineer will work with cross-functional teams including firmware engineers, validation engineers, System Integrator, Val Architect, and external vendors.

Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software. Determines SSD customer user needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgement and formal software process.

 

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (e.g., Computer Science or Cyber Security)

- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.

- Experience coding in one or more computer languages back-end such as Java, Python, or C++ codebases.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects

- Experience developing accessible technologies.

- Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

- Write product or system development code.

- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

-Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

- Design and implement validation plans and test cases for SSDs to ensure their power and performance specifications meet the expected requirements.

- Developing testing and evaluation methods to assess power consumption and performance characteristics of both existing and Engineering Samples and communicating results to stakeholders to drive product improvements.

- Collaborate with hardware development teams to identify and resolve power and performance issues during the design and development phase.

Work closely with firmware development teams to optimize storage performance and power consumption.

- Analyze and interpret validation data to provide insights and recommendations for improvements in SSD design and validation processes.
