About This Role

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Product Designer to join our team. This role will partner with our product teams and clients to solve complex design problems and put strategies in place to deliver best-in-class web and mobile solutions. Our product designers are highly strategic, detailed oriented and have a deep understanding of visual design, user experience, interface design, branding and strong fundamentals in leadership, user research and product strategy.

At Crema, we craft our product teams to solve hard problems – client problems and business problems – in ways that our clients and their customers love, yet work for their business. Our product teams are cross-functional and resilient, generally comprised of a product manager, a product designer, a test engineer, and several developers.

While we have an office in Kansas City, we are a “Work from Anywhere” company. For the Product Designer role, we are seeking an individual able to work in a hybrid capacity, dividing the week between remote and in-office work in our Kansas City office.

What you'll do:

Your primary focus will be working in a product team to design web and mobile applications for our clients. You are expected to drive the entire design process from ideation to implementation, providing elegant and meaningful experiences. We primarily use Figma, and we expect you have reached expert level in that design tool or a similar one. You’ll work with other product designers, product managers, test engineers, developers, and directly with the client team. You’ll partner with the client, and lead them in the process in a way that your design solutions meets and exceeds their business goals.

Requirements

About You

You should have extensive product design experience, specifically with shipped mobile and web applications. This is reflected in an outstanding design portfolio of real work experiences that showcases established expertise in multiple design disciplines. Your work showcases the highest level of craft and execution, a passion for user-centered design, and a desire to build accessible products for all with high levels of user adoption. You can negotiate and articulate the why behind your design decisions and are always striving to understand real users motivations and business goals. You can design well within a range of constraints—from unknown to very restrictive, business to technical, and stable to shifting.

We believe in continuous feedback at Crema—you must be open to giving and receiving feedback—and you’ll receive some training when you join the team. A teachable spirit is important. As a designer is extremely important you can negotiate and articulate the why of your design decisions, and are always excited to receive feedback on iterative design work and implement a path forward accordingly

We are looking for someone that thrives in an asynchronous setting and can balance intentional collaboration and communication with the ability to be self-driven and work independently.

Hiring Process

We’re intentional with our hiring process because we want to find the right candidate for the role! Our overall hiring process takes about 4-8 weeks from the time you are contacted for your first interview. You’ll observe a high level of transparency during the interview process to ensure a good match. We’ll do our best to answer all of your questions and provide candid feedback. There is more information on our hiring principles and more on our careers page.

Our process will look a little like this:

  1. Submit your application—we want to hear from you and how you align with our values.
  2. Phone Screen—if your application is selected, a member of our Ops team will reach out and schedule a 30-minute call to learn more about you and give you a chance to ask us questions.
  3. Interview with Craft Director—the next step is an hour-long call with the Craft Director, Pamela Porto. They will take this time to understand your skills and experience. Be prepared to discuss a piece of your portfolio as well.
  4. Interview with team members—we’re a very collaborative company, and we want the team you’ll be working with to have a chance to get to know you more and how they may work with you. You’ll be meeting with Pamela Porto (Craft Director), and members of a product team for an hour-long interview.
  5. Decision—after the team members deliberate, the Craft Director will inform you of the final decision. Whether or not you are offered a position, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Note: Industry research shows that individuals in traditionally underrepresented groups generally don’t apply to jobs unless they check all the boxes for the role. If you feel strongly that you have what it takes for this role but don’t check 100% of the boxes—that’s okay—we encourage you to apply anyway and highlight what you can bring to the table. We welcome applications from mid-level to senior-level individuals.
