THE POSITION

We’re looking for a Product Design Senior Manager to join our team in Atlanta or New York City, working on our Flywheel Product team. You’ll be part of the team that owns, enhances, and evolves FanDuel Racing, FanDuel TV+, partnership integrations, and other Content Experience products, ensuring we meet both user and business needs to the highest standards. You will manage a team of talented Product Designers and collaborate closely with Product, UX Research, Analytics, Content Design, Engineering and other partners on a daily basis. This is a highly visible role that will be key to helping us deliver innovative, new features and build upon existing experiences that our customers love.

THE GAME PLAN

Management and Coaching:

  • Manage a diverse team of Product Designers that consistently delivers impactful human-centered experiences that meet user needs and business goals.
  • Coach and mentor team performance, manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and cultivate a culture of design excellence.
  • Inspire and engage design team by providing strategic clarity and direction, unblocking barriers, and helping navigate ambiguity and change.
  • Advance your own skills at people management in a supportive and growth-oriented environment
  • Be an active mentor for other designers, interview new designers and actively advise on our design hiring process.
  • Support and be an active participant in the Design Community of Practice

Product Design Leadership:

  • Lead the product design team through all phases of product discovery, ideation, design, and testing
  • Use visual storytelling and insights to influence stakeholders and create energy around an idea or an initiative
  • Bring a balanced perspective and thoughtful decision-making to strategic discussions, advocating for both customer-centricity and needs of the business with your team and peers.
  • Introduce user-centered methodologies, frameworks and thought leadership to help facilitate strategic alignment across the organization.
  • Facilitate and champion design system adoption and governance by partnering with engineering to establish or refine processes and workflows across teams.
  • Advocate for and integrate UX Research and Product Analytics into the product design process by contributing to research roadmaps, leveraging insights in design decisions, and providing necessary prototypes/assets for studies and experiments.
  • Act as a liaison across UX, Product, and Tech teams to communicate and track interdependencies and milestones
  • Advocate for and ensure adherence to accessibility best practices and standards.
  • Support maintenance and organization of Design team tooling.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders to ensure strategic and tactical alignment and ongoing collaboration.
  • Regularly communicate program status with team, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of FanDuel’s products. Establish a vision for the long-term while ensuring near term product features and capabilities ladder up to a holistic UX that delivers on the user needs and business goals.

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 4+ years of people management experience, working with multiple direct reports supporting their careers, managing their performance, and finding opportunities for their growth
  • 6+ years of relevant product design experience at a tech, media, or product-driven company
  • Robust portfolio that showcases design solutions and examples of your design leadership impact
  • Expertise in UX/UI design principles and methodologies, including visual design, interaction design, information architecture, and prototyping.
  • Expertise designing for responsive web and native apps is a must; experience designing for TV, streaming video, and sports products is a strong plus.
  • Deep knowledge of collaboration and design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe CS, JIRA, Confluence, etc)
  • Demonstrated experience in adopting and contributing to a design system, including partnering with engineering to establish workflows for governance
  • Strong presentation and communication skills suited for our executive teams and external partners that leverage design storytelling to drive alignment
  • Ability to inspire, teach, and engage designers across experience levels to solve complex problems
  • Embody a growth mindset and a deep curiosity for the business, emerging technologies and human behavior
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, create alignment, and facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams
  • Experience utilizing research and data to inform design decisions
  • Experience in hiring and building inclusive, talented product design teams.
  • Experience building trust and close partnerships with cross-functional partners, including product, UX research, marketing, engineering, and other delivery leaders to meet deadlines, shape and prioritize complex work, and deliver quality products.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with distributed teams, across multiple time zones
  • Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity
  • Experience working in sports, entertainment, streaming or other media products

The applicable salary range for this position is $142,000 - $178,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
