What might your days look like

As our Product Design Lead, you will be working with our Product and UX teams and be the driving force behind one of our design team's creativity and innovation. You will be both a leader and a player, setting the bar high for design excellence while mentoring and coaching a small team of designers. Your vision and leadership will shape the user experience of our products, ensuring they are not only functional but also delightful.

As our Product Design Lead, you’ll be:

  • Player-Coach Leadership: Act as both a leader and an active designer, managing a team of two designers while contributing to key company OKRs. Demonstrate a high level of design craft through wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity outputs, and lead by example by setting high standards for creativity, quality, and innovation.
  • Mentorship: Coach and mentor a small team of designers, providing constructive feedback and critiques, fostering their professional growth, and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and marketing, to ensure cohesive and user-centric product development.
  • User-Centered Design: Conduct user research, usability testing, and incorporate user feedback into the design process to evaluate and validate design decisions.
  • Innovation: Encourage and facilitate innovative thinking within the team, exploring new design trends, tools, and methodologies.
  • Problem-Solving: Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including systems-level design thinking, to think critically and strategically.
  • Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: Ensure the final design output meets high standards of quality, usability, and aesthetics. Continuously refine and improve the design process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Prioritise design resources to focus on critical company OKR initiatives, balancing lean UX approaches with high-quality design.

What will you bring 

  • Proven experience in a leadership role, managing a team of designers, and acting as a player-coach with a hands-on approach to design.
  • Experience shipping mobile apps. Bonus if within high-growth, technology businesses.
  • High level of design craft with proficiency in wireframing, prototyping, and creating high-fidelity outputs. Demonstrated ability to set and maintain high standards for creativity, quality, and innovation.
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering professional growth.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and marketing.
  • Expertise in user-centered design, including conducting user research, usability testing, and incorporating user feedback into the design process.
  • Ability to encourage and facilitate innovative thinking within the team, staying up-to-date with new design trends, tools, and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with systems-level design thinking. Ability to prioritise design resources effectively and balance lean UX approaches with high-quality design. Continuous improvement mindset to enhance design process efficiency and effectiveness.
