As a Product Design Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience and visual identity of our digital product. You will lead a talented team of designers to create intuitive, visually stunning interfaces that enhance user engagement and drive business growth. 

You will play a critical role in shaping our brand identity within the product, outstanding user experience and product design, ensuring that our design initiatives align with business goals and deliver exceptional value to our customers. This role requires a seasoned design leader with a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation and creativity.
In this position, reporting to the CPO, you will serve as a key member of the Product Leadership Group. Working closely with Engineering, Data Science & Analytics, Product Management and Product Marketing to establish the strategy, operations, and communications that steer the team towards creating exceptional products that meet our user needs. 

The design team is composed of 3 Design Leads and 10 talented designers skilled in different practices. As a Design Director, you will be required to lead on a multiple set of design practices from UI/UX Design, design system, user research, interaction design, content design and content localization.

Your mission will be to lead our design vision to ensure our B2B solution is simple, intuitive, joyful and delivers great value to our users.

Key responsibilities ✨

  • Mentoring: Lead, challenge and inspire a team of designers, fostering a culture of creativity, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Vision and Strategy: Provide strategic direction and vision for the company's design initiatives, aligning them with overall business goals and brand identity.
  • Collaboration: Be able to work closely with cross-functional teams including Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and DS/DA and help them simplify, prioritize, and find the best solution for our users. Create a close relationship with all Business Partners from Sales, Operations, finance and sourcing teams to help shape the short-term and long-term Product vision and roadmaps.
  • Leadership: Ensure alignment with goals and key results, define resourcing plans and budgets, assess needs, implement changes. Facilitate workshops and presentations with cross-functional partners to promote collaboration and alignment. Guide your team to consistently achieve their goals while enhancing quality across the product design discipline.
  • Communication: Evangelizing design principles and standards throughout the organization, promoting a culture of design excellence and collaboration.
  • Design Excellence: Oversee the design process, promote best practices, and ensure exceptional design quality that aligns with Malt's goals.
  • Build an inclusive, trustful culture where team members feel comfortable taking risks and go beyond execution.

About you 🧑‍🚀

  • Experience: Proven track record with over 10 years in UX/UI design and at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional ability to work alongside senior managers and cross-functional teams to drive product strategy and execution.
  • Innovation: Experience driving innovation (ideally experience in AI), maintaining a strategic design practice, and influencing product development.
  • Communication: Excellent use of English and stellar communication skills to effectively convey decisions and solutions to all levels of the organization.
  • Multifaceted Design leader: Understand and evangelize the value of Product Design, UX Research, Content, Localization, and Design System.
  • People Management Skills: build strong connections with the design team, fostering a culture of empathy, self-awareness, and accountability
  • Ability to clarify longer-term roadmap, prioritizing and delegating proactive vs. reactive work (Strategic skills and building skills)
