Role Summary
This is a key strategic role to support the expanding MDR operations organization execute and deliver transformational projects. These ‘work smarter not harder’ projects will build efficiency into the MDR human touch process.
The role is a home first working position to be based in the Eastern Time zone in Canada. It may include some travel for collaborative meetings etc.
The ideal candidate will be a first-class influencer of individuals and teams, you will be able to show you get things done, knock down blockers, drive fast resolution of uncertainty to clarity – and not just by sending out a project plan! You will ideally have industry relevant experience. Many of the project deliverables into MDR operations come from outside of the team for example MDR development, SophosAI or Sophos Product Engineering. Success will come from a tight business requirement definition agreed and coordinated with the Product Management team and then delivered and implemented with the highest level of project management process and skill.
As a Technical Project Manager, you will quickly be able to interpret human process, systems gaps or opportunities, adding in customer demand and feedback, into programs of work aligned with the MDR management team and Product Management. You will be able to present and explain the needs and solutions to internal teams, other Sophos teams and the executive in a structured and concise manner.
What You Will Do
- As a key member of the MDR management team you will influence and steer decisions and outcomes.
- Responsibility for multiple MDR projects. Aligning and influencing all relevant departments to achieve success.
- Create and manage Project Plans, coordination, progress tracking, implementation/ delivery sometimes including coordinated Customer launch.
- Clearly communicating program status to upper management and ensure that data is presented in a consistent and easy to understand manner leading to actionable conclusions.
- Presenting and/or chairing project/steering meetings.
- Drive the teams to present metric driven targets and outcomes.
- Influence and persuade others to take a specific course of action when you have no direct line of reporting, including other Managers and up to Director/VP level.
- Employ standard methods and techniques for planning, monitoring, and reporting against plan.
- Negotiate long-term program requirements that affect other stakeholders.
- Understand agile software development processes and how to map that into wider business processes.
- Understand and demonstrate experience in using appropriate tools for agile project management such as Jira, Confluence, and all Office Tools
What You Will Bring
- A ‘can do’, ‘get it done’ approach that holds management and delivery teams to account for agreed responsibilities.
- Project Management across multiple globally dispersed sites including home workers.
- Management of multiple Software Development programs from concept to delivery.
- Management of non-Software programs from concept to delivery.
- Informing, updating, driving and influencing senior managers, Product Managers and Directors that are not direct reports or even part of your team.
- Reporting to VP level on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis.
- Implementing development projects using Agile methodologies.
- Experience of operating in a global, matrix management structure.
- Ideally experience within the Cybersecurity industry and/or an operations delivery team.
- Ideally experience with Atlassian tool set.
In Canada, the base salary for this role ranges from $128,000 to $214,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
