Entrata’s Principal Engineer is who we rely on to take ownership of projects and see them across the finish line, and advocate for the latest tools, technologies, and best practices. The Principal Engineer role is a critical role in Entratal's transition away from monolithic architectures to lean distributed architectures. The principal engineer works as a mentor, influencer, and hands-on contributor. The Principal Engineer delivers value by technically strengthening his/her team and owning value delivery. As part of our Development team based in our Lehi, UT HQ, this role requires the ability to be the best and brightest. responsibilities
- Help others across the company to architect, write and implement efficient, readable, testable, reliable code for a high-volume cloud environment, while continuing to contribute own code.
- Plan and deliver multi-quarter projects that share dependencies across the R&D org.
- Advises on the most complex challenges with organization-wide issues toward world class solutions; advise and drive improvements to practices, processes, goals and strategies
- Owns quality and customer value of features in own product and fundamentally improves the quality of work done by entire company
- Has expertise in the organization’s architecture, including all domains, their bounded contexts, and how they interact with each other
- Models asking questions to gather feedback across guilds, teams, committees and projects to improve personally and to provide feedback to senior leadership on strategic impact opportunities across the R&D org
- Identify and solve the worst bottlenecks that affect overall productivity and efficiency across the whole company
- Become a primary expert in multiple areas of our stack, demonstrating deep knowledge of all our products, technology, and architecture
- Responsible to ensure user stories adhere to architectural and coding standards to enable all team members to take on a gradually growing number of story points per sprint, and predictably complete them at a high quality despite barriers.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of software development experience
- Domain-Driven Design and event storming based planning
- CI/CD tools and experience
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, trust-building, conflict-resolution, and writing skills
- Passionate about creatively solving business problems.
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- The ability to non-emotionally coach and mentor others.
- The ability to not participate in 'techno-arrogant' conversation.
- Meet multiple, challenging deadlines while communicating expectations clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
- 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering
- Experience working in the Software as a Service (SaaS) industry
