Our passionate Video and Edge Processing team develops the Brainlab hardware for our future Image Guided Surgery and Digital O.R portfolio. These state-of-the-art medical systems offer our customers easy access to the Brainlab software capabilities of today and tomorrow.
The Video and Edge Processing team is a small team of highly skilled engineers. We develop spatial computing solutions for camera and video based medical systems interconnected in a medical IoT environment in order to augment and process medical video data. The cross functional team consists of experts in every field of engineering: mechanical, hardware, PCB, FPGA, bare metal software, Linux kernel, Linux user space including server based architectures, front end development up to system integration, CI and testing.
The position consists of a leading/strategic part as well as hands-on project work:
Lead our small team of project engineers:
- Define and introduce an agile methodology setup for our requirement engineering, content based documentation, verification/validation strategies for larger systems and more – in alignment with our company processes
- Technically develop the team members
- Be part of our cross-functional architecture team to define our division strategy, new architectures/products and technology roadmap
The hands-on project work:
- Work on projects either as project engineer or as project manager
- Lead and manage smaller development projects
- Drive the product requirements engineering process as well as technical concepts
- Contribute to the creation of medical device documentation
- Collaborate successfully with international development partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders such as quality management and general management
- Ensure that our medical devices fulfill all national, and international, statutory and normative requirements
- Perform coordination of and/or define functional tests of medical devices
- Interface between developers (HW, FPGA, SW, Mechanical) and the “regulatory world”
- Keep up to date on new technologies and supervise small research studies on new topics (usually performed by working students)

- demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate cross-functional project teams in addition to external partners
- university degree in computer science, electrical engineering, medical engineering, physics or comparable work experience
- distinct analytical skills and attention to detail round out your profile
- experience in medical device development
- high standard of quality in regards to documentation
- fluent written and spoken English (some German / willingness to learn it is a plus - but not a pre-requisite)
