The Principal People Business Partner is a new role created to support our expansion of Okta in India and Asia. This is an opportunity to put your stamp on the role whilst leveraging the support and expertise of the global People team. You will report to the Director, of People Business Partner Asia Pacific and Japan who is based in Sydney, Australia to drive a consistent and engaging employee experience across our growing regions.

This is a hands-on and hybrid role that spans the entire employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding whilst providing business partnering support to leaders and managers of teams across the region. 

How you will create impact:

  • Comfortably works with other team members in remote locations.
  • Works closely with People Business Partners to implement programs, policies and initiatives with employees.
  • Builds strong relationships with leaders and has the ability to coach and influence
  • Produces regular and ad-hoc reports to ensure People's business metrics are quantified and outcome-driven. 
  • Maintains and communicates global and local policies and procedures. 
  • Conducts research and analyzes data on assigned projects.
  • Partners with People Operations and acts as a local advisor to employees on People questions, such as employee data, compensation and benefits issues.
  • Maintains records for reporting requirements.
  • Supports employee recognition programs and processes.
  • Consults with front-line management to influence and facilitate the development of their organizational priorities and related change initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develops and supports people-first programs and initiatives, including supporting Okta Culture and Values.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 5 years of experience as an HR Business Partner.
  • Recent technology or other fast-paced, high-growth company experience in the Indian market
  • Experience with Engineering and Go To Market functions and leaders
  • A strong focus and ability to align HR solutions with business outcomes
  • An ability to work in an agile way confidence to challenge our leaders to make better decisions
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skillset, with the ability to move between listening to, guiding and coaching others at all levels
  • The ability to make quick, sound decisions based on knowledge and judgment
