About Argus
Argus is the leading independent provider of market intelligence to the global energy and commodity markets. We offer essential price assessments, news, analytics, consulting services, data science tools and industry conferences to illuminate complex and opaque commodity markets. Headquartered in London with over 1,400 staff, Argus is an independent media organisation with 30 offices in the world’s principal commodity trading hubs.
Companies, trading firms and governments in 160 countries around the world trust Argus data to make decisions, analyse situations, manage risk, facilitate trading and for long-term planning. Argus prices are used as trusted benchmarks around the world for pricing transportation, commodities and energy. Founded in 1970, Argus remains a privately held UK-registered company owned by employee shareholders and global growth equity firm General Atlantic.
Argus Media is committed to ensuring career and personal growth for all its staff and provides extensive training and career development opportunities, as well as participation in employee-led initiatives, including a women’s network. Our core values are Excellence, Integrity, Partnership and Inclusivity.
Argus Consulting Services is the advisory division of Argus Media — the largest independent energy publisher in the world. We provide clients with customised analysis, research, data and commentary services on international energy markets.
Our work is firmly focused on markets — their structure, logistics and economics. Argus Consulting Services draws on Argus’ key strengths — energy markets expertise, global networks and proprietary databases — in order to deliver real client value.
Argus Consulting has two divisions. One undertakes tailor-made commissioned assignments for a wide variety of clients and across various sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen, biofuels and energy transition solutions. The other division provides regular subscription services, again to a wide variety of clients and across a similar range of sectors.
The Role
The Consulting team has a strong track record of developing and launching forecast subscription services, focused on both short and long term. We are constantly striving to improve coverage in the existing products and to identify opportunities to launch new ones. Our metals portfolio has seen significant growth in recent years, but we believe there is opportunity to do more, building off the strength of our editorial coverage and market positioning.
During the first 3-6 months, the person taking this role will define a strategy for new product development, clearly articulating the design and potential for additional services that complement Argus’ existing coverage. It is expected that these are likely to focus on ferrous markets, although there is also potential to increase coverage in key non-ferrous markets.
It is expected that this role will lead the development of these products, recruiting key staff, bringing them to launch and then providing oversight to their ongoing production as they are fully resourced and embedded within our offering. The role will be accountable for their commercial success and will take steps to ensure this, representing the products in the market (e.g. conferences, business development) and working with our commercial and marketing teams to define strategies that will result in strong financial growth.
