Tasks:
Execution of all projects in subregion on time and on budget with focus on electrical engineering scope
Responsible for the development of technical solutions and standards for project / customer specific features on electrical engineering topics
Responsible for quality control of all deliverables within the scope of electrical engineering
Point of contact for EMEA projects on technical challenges regarding electrical engineering scope
Responsible person for all technical solutions within the Electrical engineering group
Development of younger engineers and supporting them to reach the next level
Executing tasks related to Fluence’ safety KPIs.
Lead projects independently, and drive project challenges to ground, by utilizing solid technical solutions.
Apply comprehensive knowledge to prepare and supervise the development of key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:
Specifications and Datasheets
Electrical Load List
One-line diagrams
Protection and Metering schemes
Equipment layouts
Conceptual studies and calculations
Relay Coordination
Calculations
Function as electrical engineering project lead
Become fully familiar with the project contract, scope of work, basis of design, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues. Report to and coordinate with electrical engineering lead, project engineering manager, project manager, and electrical department manager.
Assist and coordinate with electrical engineers and designers.
Maintain close coordination with other discipline engineers and with the Client’s engineer.
Carefully evaluate, communicate, and manage change with full awareness of project impact.
Prepare estimates for bid proposals, including technical query reviews, execution statements and workhour estimates, identifying software requirements and any other project-specific requirements.
Perform FEED verification and gap analysis reports at early stage of the project.
Prepare, review, and (as a Lead Engineer) approve discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications, data sheets reports and procedures.
Participate in finalizing deliverables lists and deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional integrity. - Attend project kick off and review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings and site surveys as required.
Provide technical solutions and assist other discipline engineers and designers to take suitable technical decisions related to project technical challenges.
Attend 3D model reviews, safety workshops, constructability review & Client meetings.
Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them in proceeding with their deliverables.
Assist in procurement engineering activities that includes preparing, reviewing, and (as Lead Engineer) approving requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents.
Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor and subcontractor technical submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessary.
Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve design verification through single discipline check/ inter-discipline check.
Keep the Discipline Manager and Project Management Team apprised of all activities and concerns, technical, budgetary and manpower related.
Check final subcontractor and vendor data manuals to ensure that all requested data has been received and approved.
Present issues and problems to Customers in a timely manner and assist Lead Engineer in negotiating resolution in accordance with project and company requirements.
Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve Electrical system studies / calculations including ETAP/Power Factory/PSCAD. Participate in FAT & inspection and preparation & resolution of punch lists for major electrical equipment.
Assist construction and commissioning engineers in solving site issues.
Perform Technical Quality Audit reviews as required. - Capture lessons learned and log them into Fluence Lessons Learned system. - Guide less experienced engineers on Discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, design calculations, software, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, technical queries, etc.
Assist and guide assigned engineers and coordinate with project Lead Designers for engineering and design deliverables including quality check list and audit readiness.
Responsible for the engineering integrity of the assigned work area.
Assist in the maintenance of departmental technical guidelines and standard calculation notes.
Participate in development and maintenance of Procedures/standards.
Develop communication and presentation skills (e.g., present design solutions, and/or present knowledge sharing sessions to the team, value moments etc.). - Identify and provide training to staff in specific technical topics.
Provide information on employee performance to the Discipline Manager.
Assist Discipline manager in interviewing job applicants.
Travel throughout EMEA / internationally.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) -
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience with design of power systems for utility installations, PV plants, Battery Storage Systems in the EMEA region
- Expert in the electrical system design, system studies, relay coordination, protection & control, grounding practice, HV and LV, design and study
- Expert in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for high voltage systems, wind, solar, or conventional power generation
- Expert with applicable codes, standards and regulations used in EMEA Region
- Strong technical skills and experience in finding solution on complex technical issues.
- Expert in procurement engineering (RFI, TQ, technical bid evaluation)
- Solution-orientated mindset.
