Job Summary
The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will design the system architecture, specification, design, development, and testing of the newest, most innovative energy storage system in the industry to date. The successful candidate will have a multitude of skills with previous experience in circuit design, battery management, technology development, functional safety, and regulatory compliance. The position will require an overall system perspective and detailed design experience with cross-functional input and experience. Starting from a concept and proceeding through the product development process to define new innovative solutions and create reliable market-leading solutions will define success for this role.
Responsibilities

Define and develop system architectures for the next generation of ESS products.
- Contribute to definition and implementation of technology roadmap.
- Write specifications for system-level design, operation, and controls.
- Implement, or management implementations of specifications written

Ownership of system designs down to the board level.
- Develop, implement, and verify subsystem designs.
- Creates test engineering and validation plans to ensure proper implementation.
- Perform system integration and validation testing for engineering development and manufacturing production.
- Supports prototype system builds to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Lead regulatory compliance testing and validation.
- Document system theory of operation.
- Develops organizational due diligence to ensure proper design margin and best practices.
- Lead root cause and failure analysis for overall system performance.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or designed
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Minimum education of Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree.
- 15+ years of experience in electrical system design.
- Energy storage experience.
- 8+ years of demonstrated technical skills in circuit board design and development
- Experience with microprocessor design details, as well as circuit board design and testing
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
