Overview of Opportunity
Two Six Technologies is currently looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Researcher to serve as the Principal Investigator and lead our team in Arlington, Virginia. This role is highly technical at its core and requires expertise in developing new capabilities in hardware, firmware, and software reverse engineering. You will also bring practical experience in network analysis and have the ability to identify security vulnerabilities in complex systems of systems.
Responsibilities Include:
- Take on complex technical problems for which there is often no known answer
- Perform static and dynamic analysis to find security vulnerabilities in embedded systems
- Develop proof of concept capabilities to show research progress
- Provide technical leadership and direction on multiple ongoing projects, and interface directly with clients/key stakeholders to present findings and gather design constraints
- Leading and managing a team of employees, including setting goals and objectives, developing strategies, and assigning tasks
Minimum Qualifications:
- An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Polygraph
- Minimum 7 years of experience in firmware development using low-level programming languages (C/C++, at least one assembly language- x86 or ARM, Go, and Rust), scripting languages (e.g., Python), and the Linux command line
- Minimum 2 years of experience with at least one modern debugger such as GDB or WinDBG
- Minimum 2 years of experience with at least one modern decompiler such as IDA, Ghidra, and Binary Ninja
- Experience with static analysis or software reverse engineering
- Experience performing network traffic analysis of standard and custom networking protocols
- Experience leading a small technical team of engineers and/or researchers
Nice if you have:
- Experience building or securing embedded devices and other digital systems
- Experience with dynamic analysis, fuzzing techniques, and debugging
- Experience with Binary Ninja or Ghidra API
- Knowledge of common network protocols TCP/IP, UDP, or HTTP
- Experience with embedded binary reverse engineering (ARM, RTOS, etc.)
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing technical role
Clearance Requirement:
- An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Polygraph
