Team

Voodoo’s Gaming division is made up of hybrid-casual, casual, and mid-core experts. Our 'Core' games team supports internal and external studios worldwide in creating, developing, and launching new hit games, whilst our 'Live' games team focuses on delivering higher engagement on our existing and successful games.

You will be joining one of our Live Studios, working on Block Jam. The team is composed of experienced game devs from all of the top companies in the industry. Whilst Block Jam is already a successful game, our mission is to keep the momentum going and turn it into Voodoo’s best game. We've assembled a talented Art Team and are now seeking a Principal Concept Artist to help elevate our art production to the level of top-charting games

Role

  • Big-Picture Visual Development: Partner with the game’s Art Leadership to develop the look and feel of Block Jam by inventing and reinventing characters, environments, and the overall setting in which everything takes place.
  • Concept Art for Production: Leverage your creative skills to help the art and design team by designing assets (props, characters, locations…) and experiences (gameplay mechanics, transitions, celebrations...) for our ongoing flow of new features and events.
  • Artistic Excellence: Mentor and teach our artists looking to grow their artistic abilities, and push them to reach excellence in execution while maintaining our high velocity.
  • Out of Scope contributions: Everyone joining our team is first and foremost a passionate game dev. As such, you will be welcome to go beyond your scope and contribute in other areas as you see fit.
  • Reporting Line: You will report directly to our Head of Art.

Profile

  • Artistic Mastery: Expert in all fundamental aspects of art, including anatomy, color theory, lighting, and composition. Your work consistently demonstrates exceptional quality.
  • Storytelling and Creativity: You love using art to tell stories and you find all sorts of creative solutions to game design challenges. This includes storyboarding.
  • Portfolio: A standout portfolio that showcases your skills as a vizdev/concept artist, with a strong emphasis on character design and a keen eye for mid-core/casual art styles.
  • 3D Modeling: Our game is full 3D, so it’s a great plus to be able to do basic 3D modeling, or at the minimum to design and think in 3D.
  • Bonus: Experience or affinity with Motion Design
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience as a Concept Artist in the gaming industry or related fields, with a proven track record of working on mobile, casual, or mid-core games.
  • Passion for Mobile Gaming: A deep understanding of mobile gaming, mid-core/casual game aesthetics, and industry trends.
  • Pipeline Knowledge: Solid experience with game development pipelines and the collaboration between game design, dev, and art teams.
  • Data-Driven Creativity: Understand the mobile gaming market and key performance indicators (KPIs), using data to inform artistic choices.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate artistic concepts and ideas to different teams.
