Mission Summary

In the Principal Compensation Partner role, you'll have the opportunity to shape the organization's compensation strategy, ensuring it aligns with industry best practices and organizational goals. This role offers a chance to make a significant impact on the company's compensation landscape and drive informed decision-making. You'll influence compensation structures and salary decisions through job analyses, market pricing, and benchmarking, provide strategic guidance on global programs, ensure compliance, and use data analytics to create actionable insights. You'll stay ahead of market trends and collaborate with HR and business leaders to streamline compensation reporting. 

This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 2 days onsite.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the development and implementation of our compensation philosophy, aligning with organizational objectives and best practices in the industry.
  • Conduct comprehensive job analysis, market pricing, and benchmarking to inform decision-making on compensation structures and salary ranges.
  • Develop projections and recommendations for annual compensation budget planning, including salary increases, structure adjustments, and incentive programs.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support on global compensation programs and processes, including base pay, variable incentive plans, and equity programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal employment regulations and compensation policies, advising management on best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize data analytics skills to transform complex compensation data into actionable insights and narratives, facilitating informed decision-making and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Owns relationship and program offerings with our external vendor in support of our equity program.
  • Proactively monitor market trends and conduct equity refresh analyses to ensure competitive and equitable distribution of stock options and RSUs.
  • Create and deliver compensation training materials
  • Implement and maintain developed compensation structure and policies, ensuring alignment with job leveling structure, FLSA status, and job grade assessments to determine appropriate salary ranges for exempt and nonexempt positions.
  • Complete annual compensation surveys, for both US and international positions, and directly interact with survey vendors to complete the survey process. Research and identify survey products that could potentially serve as relevant data points used for the purposes of establishing salaries/hourly rates.
  • Assist with annual compensation budget planning within our HRIS..
  • Partner with talent acquisition to help position Motional as an employer of choice
  • Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations and compensation policies.
  • Works collaboratively with HR and business leaders to identify reporting needs, assess current reporting utilization, and develop streamlined solutions to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years of compensation, analytics, & reporting experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Agile and flexible in managing unplanned, urgent requests, ensuring timely and effective responses to dynamic business needs.
  • Extensive knowledge of G-Suite and Microsoft Office including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation policies, structure creation, and maintenance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers only to the most complex issues.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field highly preferred

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs. The estimated compensation range listed in this job posting reflects base salary only. This role may include additional forms of compensation such as a bonus or company equity. Salary Range
$140,000$187,000 USD
