Mintel is searching for a Principal Architect with extensive experience guiding architectural practices and providing technical leadership. This role involves working alongside teams that build web applications, maintain complex operational tools, manage significant data assets and utilise AI and ML capabilities. The successful candidate will own architectural processes and collaborate with Architects, Engineers, Product Managers and other functions to deliver robust, scalable solutions for our customers and internal teams. They will also support the gradual evolution of existing capabilities.
This hands-on, individual contributor role requires a strong technical background and practical experience working closely with Engineering teams. It also requires leadership qualities and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a senior, influential position.

What You Will Do
- Collaborate with Architects that support various aspects of our portfolio to ensure a cohesive approach across all of Mintel's technology platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and guide the adoption of best practice cloud architecture and design patterns.
- Define the technology vision, strategy and long term architectural roadmap to meet Mintel's future needs.
- Maintain current and future state architecture plans, in partnership with other Architects, Engineering teams and Product partners.
- Help Engineering teams and Product partners integrate the technology strategy into the product portfolio roadmap, modernising established capabilities and enabling new, innovative solutions.
- Own architectural best practices and contribute to broader architectural and technical discussions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate these into the technology vision and architectural roadmap.
- Support specific initiatives as an Architect and in a technical lead capacity, ensuring robust design and appropriate considerations for successful implementation.
What We Are Looking For
- A software engineering background with experience as an Architect building systems using technologies similar to AWS (including Sagemaker, EventBridge, Lambda and SQS), Snowflake, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, Django, React, Airflow, ElasticSearch, SnapLogic and ChatGPT.
- Experience establishing and evolving architectural practices in organisations with a complex portfolio of data-driven SaaS services.
- In-depth knowledge of modern cloud based technology architectures and designs with experience applying them in collaboration with Engineering teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, able to communicate with and influence colleagues across all levels of the company in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Able to understand and talk strategically about business priorities, aligning technology and architecture strategy to support these.
- Exposure to agile ways of working and an understanding of how to embed good architectural practices in such an environment.
