The Role
The Principal Architect is a technology leader within the central Architecture team at SEEK. The key responsibility of this role is to define and drive SEEK's architectural strategy in collaboration with peers and stakeholders. Principal Architects have architectural accountability for a particular organisational scope defined by the boundaries of a business, product domain, or portfolio.
The Principal Architects are responsible for working with business and product stakeholders to understand SEEK's goals and with the necessary teams and stakeholders to extract, understand, define, and prioritise the outcomes and initiatives required to meet those goals.
The Principal Architect is also responsible for ensuring that the Architecture Strategy maintains and, where necessary, uplifts the health of technology and systems within the scope of their role.
Require experience with corporate applications, business processes and liaising with internal teams to provide architectural guidance. Soft skills required are likely project management, coordination and stakeholder management.

- Delivering strategies, roadmaps and solution architectures for finance, HR, and workplace technology

The Team
The Architecture function at SEEK comprises two domains, Online and Corporate. Online is responsible for the architecture strategy that enables SEEK to build and operate the SEEK product and deliver on our current and future product ambitions efficiently and effectively. Corporate is responsible for the architectural strategy that enables SEEK to conduct its business efficiently and effectively and to support SEEK's business ambition to unify and grow into a scalable global operation in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the health of the Technology landscape, including first-party and third-party systems. Contribute to the standards and definitions of health. Apply those standards to prioritise investment in maintaining and uplifting the health of our technology.
- Partner with product and business leaders to deeply understand the business and product ambitions within the scope of the portfolio. Use this understanding to drive technology goals that enable the efficient and effective delivery of those goals.
- Proactively engage stakeholders at all levels to influence business requirements and solution designs, ensuring these remain aligned with approved technology roadmaps and standards.
- Continue to be engaged in the execution of initiatives in partnership with stakeholders and engineering teams. Take a first-hand approach to understand the challenges faced by engineering teams when delivering on Architecture led initiatives.
- As part of the Architecture team, develop and maintain a library of Architecture artefacts (including capability model, technology reference model, technology roadmaps, standards, and registers) across APAC.
- Maintain the integrity of the architecture across APAC, ensuring there are clear links between other architecture layers, e.g. application, integration, business, infrastructure, data, and security.
- Provide leadership and direction to Solution and Project Architects engaged across APAC to support initiatives and ensure they are aligned and deliver outcomes in line with SEEK’s architecture principles.
- Support portfolio planning, prioritisation, and estimation of transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with the broader SEEK Architecture community to develop and provide input into policies and frameworks, helping define architectural principles, mandatory practices, and decision-making authorities that will be applied across our APAC Technology landscape.
- Ensure all key architectural decisions are made and governed following the Corporate Platforms Framework, including traceability of Solution Designs aligned with artefacts.
- Represent the needs and position of operational support teams in formulated designs and strategies.
- Support the platform health of SEEK’s technology landscape across APAC by ensuring our systems are reliable, resilient, and cost-effective.
- Support the growth of architectural capabilities across APAC for our technical leaders through coaching and mentoring.
