About the team

Careem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a startup within a startup), we’re in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space.

What you’ll do

As a Pricing & Promotions Manager, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing Quik pricing strategy, promotional campaigns and tactics. This is a unique role with the opportunity to create genuine impact for the lives of everyday people in our region.

We’re looking for someone with an amazing understanding of the online grocery market. Our ideal candidate is someone that excels at analysing data, makes data-driven recommendations and that relentlessly focuses on customers and desires to understand their current & future needs.

  1. Support in defending Quik pricing strategy across different markets including but not limited to price and promotion setting and communication, minimum order values, delivery fees etc.
  2. Design and implement processes and tools to support the strategic price point setting
  3. Regularly iterate on our pricing approach by testing new models such as price elasticity of demand and by using financial modelling to analyse the potential impact of differing pricing strategies
  4. Perform pricing & margin analysis by market
  5. Maintain Quik pricing index vs the market by collaborating with the Analytics team on requirements to automate the scraping of competitors pricing 
  6. Work closely with the category management team to get the required promotions for sale events 
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support in implementing pricing and promotional strategies across markets (particularly within Commercial, Marketing and Product)
  8. Act as a subject matter expert for pricing enquiries from internal stakeholders

What you’ll need

Successful candidates will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer centricity, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose. 

  • At least 4+ years of experience in E-commerce pricing, managing promotions in e-commerce 
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce sales and customer behaviour in online purchases 
  • Strong P&L understanding - knowing the intracices of managing product margins 
  • Sophisticated analytical capabilities is a must, you’re comfortable working with large data sets to extract insights
  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to communicate complex findings to various audiences in a clear manner both written and verbally
  • You are an excellent communicator with any audience with stellar stakeholder management – You can easily explain complex concepts to people of any level
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away
