Pre-qualified Translators

The Search for Common Ground in Brussels is seeking to establish a list of 5 pre-qualified translators to serve the sporadic needs of its programs in Belgium, in Europe, and across the world.
The individuals and companies holding proven expertise in translation will be selected based on their capacity to deliver timely professional translation in English to French/French to English, English to Arabic/Arabic to English, French to Arabic/Arabic to French.
According to the organization’s needs to sometimes deliver certified translation of official documents, at least 1 among the 5 selected translators will be a sworn translator appointed by the legal authorities in a European country.
Selected translators will be considered as go-to providers to be contacted whenever there would be a need for translation emerging from Search’s program in Belgium or elsewhere in the world during a period of 24 months. To comply with Search’s procurement policies, this pre-qualification process will be renewed at a yearly basis to maintain a fair competition.
Being pre-selected does not guarantee funding or a consultancy with Search, but it will place those selected in top position to be contracted by our programs based on their needs

General Requirements

  • Consultants are individuals who are not employees of Search for Common Ground;
  • They are available to be engaged on an "as needed basis" to perform specific tasks within a specified duration and deliverables; 
  • Consultants must be able to sign an agreement;
  • They must be duly registered for VAT and other taxes;
  • Consultants are expected to have sound skills and knowledge in their area of expertise in order to deliver a high level performance.

Specific Requirements


    Based on their background, selected consultants will be divided in 3 categories as following:

  • Junior consultant: 2 to 4 years of experience
  • Expert consultant: 5 to 9 years of experience
  • Senior consultant: Over 10 years of experience

  • Proven expertise in professional translation in at least one of these 3 languages: English, French or Arabic 
  • Ability to demonstrate quality of work through submission of 2 past work samples and at least 2 letters of recommendation from past clients
  • Search will be interested in identifying at least one sworn translator in Belgium among those who will be selected
  • A demonstration of their commitment to the Common Ground Approach, working across dividing with deep respect for all involved.

Selection Criteria


    All submissions will be analyzed based on the following criteria:

  • Relevant experience as demonstrated by CV and  2 writing samples of previous work
  • Experience working with institutions/iNGOs as demonstrated by letters of recommendation
  • Pricing per word / per page  (price competitiveness)
  • Among the 5 finalists, the panel will also seek to find a balance between candidates able to respond to small requests and those able to manage larger volumes of work.
