ELEKS is looking for a PowerGrid Engineer / Power Systems Engineer to join the DAKAR team in Ukraine.

About Product
The DAKAR product by ELEKS is a robust software solution specifically designed for the management of large power distribution networks. It plays a crucial role in optimizing the operational efficiency and stability of power systems, particularly in Eastern Europe.
DAKAR enables real-time power systems management through automated system stability analysis and optimized load flow calculations. This helps minimize errors, reduce financial losses, and enhance the reliability of the power infrastructure. The software also offers extensive modelling capabilities for streamlined data analysis, allowing for swift identification and resolution of system vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Project design experience, ideally in power generation, power distribution/transmission, and the utilities sector
  • Experience in a consulting capacity (desirable)
  • Experience with power simulation software
  • Experience in renewable (PV & wind) energy would be beneficial
  • 5 years of experience in a similar technical expert role
  • Proficiency in power system planning (desirable)
  • Applied expertise in distributed generation, alternative energy, and microgrid systems (desirable)
  • Proficiency with designing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for medium and high voltage distribution systems including substations, switchgear and standby generation systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s (preferred) degree in Electrical/Power Engineering
  • Must be able to work with large data sets and conduct qualitative data analysis
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian and European standards and grid code compliance
  • Experience with the distribution and transmission voltage levels of power engineering and how they are applied to renewable energy projects
  • Strong knowledge of Power System modelling and analysis
  • Programming skills (desirable)
  • Proven experience using Power Systems Analysis software like DAKAR, DIgSILENT, PSS/E and others
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation software
  • Demonstrated ability to work with traders, contractors, consultants, and provide technical leadership
  • At least an Upper-Intermediate level of English
  • Knowledge of German will be a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide power systems design and support to development and construction teams working on power system projects
  • Gain an understanding of (study) the functionality of the DAKAR product 
  • Represent the DAKAR product and ELEKS energy expertise to an English-speaking audience 
  • Monitor the product's competitors 
  • Prepare presentations for specific meetings 
  • Conduct (moderate) online and offline meetings, and handle correspondence with clients 
  • If necessary, participate in conducting calculations and analysis of power systems and electrical networks
