Block, Inc. is seeking an Operations Lead to join our Global Public Policy team. The Policy Operations Lead will support Block’s purpose of economic empowerment, working with our Global Policy team to create a strong collaborative environment, easing administrative processes by using and improving systems that allow our remote teams to collaborate more effectively. The Operations Lead will be responsible for critical team operations, including leading prioritization and execution across key workstreams. The ideal candidate will have a rigorous attention to detail, love of good process and organization, creative approach to solving organizational challenges, and an interest in broader public policy matters. 

You Will:

  • Provide oversight and execution of operations functions including:

    • Creating a rigorous process around development of policy resources, including a repository of policy TPs, comment letters, one pagers, and other needed collateral

    • Support an increasing level of executive engagement with policy audiences, including trip planning from planning to completion. 

    • Manage  the process and timelines for regulatory comment letters 

    • Support preparation for high level meetings, including working cross functionally to gather key TPs and clearance. May also staff high level meetings to ensure continuity and follow through.

    • Partner closely with Cross-Functional Teams such as Procurement, F&S, HR/People, Legal, Communications, and others. 

    • Assist with budget tracking and spending across the global team. 

  • Drive adoption of tools and trackers to bring awareness and visibility across our teams’ work to help support teams’ strategy. This includes, but is not limited to: 

    • Manage, maintain, and socialize Notion workspace project management for projects related to budgeting, forecasting or other administrative needs 

    • Assist Global Policy Leads in other work as needed, including around team coordination and communications. 

    • Organize process documentation, and support project management tools and policy tracker tools across the teams. 

    • Support the head of Policy Communications in driving strong internal comms about the Policy team’s work

  • Work with global teams in varying time zones across our APAC, EMEA, and American markets.

  • Partner with the Policy Executive Assistant and Executive Operations team as a whole to ensure smooth process and event planning/execution across all teams at Block.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience

  • Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams, with a high attention to detail and focus on excellence in execution

  • Ability to drive projects forward with clear goals and timelines, especially multifaceted projects with many cross functional teams involved

  • Experience working on confidential matters

  • Thorough understanding of procurement, payment, and budgeting processes

  • Excellent project management skills 

  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on a course of action

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally 

  • The ability to remain composed with a high volume of activities.

  • The instinct to create personal and professional stretch goals and meet them.

  • An interest in working with colleagues around the world.

  • A general understanding of the policy field, with curiosity to  learn more

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $129,000 - USD $193,600
Zone B: USD $119,900 - USD $179,900
Zone C: USD $113,600 - USD $170,400
Zone D: USD $103,200 - USD $154,800
