Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented PMC Geology/Geotechnical Lead Engineer to lead all geological and geotechnical engineering activities for a major Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Abu Dhabi. The Geology/Geotechnical Lead Engineer will ensure that all geotechnical investigations, analyses, and designs meet project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements. This role requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and significant experience in geotechnical engineering for large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical and geological engineering activities, including site investigations, soil testing, and ground analysis.
- Develop, review, and approve geotechnical designs, specifications, and reports for foundations, earthworks, slope stability, and related infrastructure.
- Analyze subsurface conditions to provide recommendations for design, construction, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure geotechnical and geological requirements are integrated into the overall project design.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor geotechnical activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Support the resolution of technical queries (TQ) and manage design changes related to geotechnical and geological aspects.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure construction activities align with geotechnical recommendations and safety standards.
- Provide input on soil-structure interaction, trench stability, and pipeline support systems.
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, progress updates, and documentation for stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:
- 12-15 years of experience in geotechnical and geological engineering, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline construction projects.
- Proven experience in a PMC environment is highly desirable.

Skills:
- Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, gINT).
- Strong knowledge of international geotechnical and geological standards and codes (e.g., ASTM, BS, Eurocode 7).
- Expertise in soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills for effective team coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic project environment.
