Airbnb was born in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 4 million Hosts who have welcomed more than 1 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, Hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
Airbnb is a mission-driven company dedicated to helping create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. It takes a unified team committed to our core values to achieve this goal. Airbnb's various functions embody the company's innovative spirit and our fast-moving team is committed to leading as a 21st century company.
The Community You Will Join:
The Finance Technology team manages a complex and innovative ecosystem of products and applications, and is responsible for driving key outcomes for all stakeholders who rely on Airbnb's Financial Information. Some of these include a) ensuring taxes are charged, collected, remitted and reported correctly b) manage all things cash (reconciliation, hedging, treasury), c) ensure every transaction is accounted correctly and ready for audit and investor reporting, d) provide critical data and metrics, e) provide top-to-bottom insurance protection for guests and hosts, and f) provide critical enterprise applications to employees (e.g, ERP, Equity). Everything we do is exemplified due to the scale - hundreds of currencies, thousands of tax authorities, millions of users, and billions of dollars (and transaction volume). Our approach is to build platform solutions to help the company grow by bringing new markets and demographics, be compliant, optimize costs and enable new business initiatives to thrive
The Difference You Will Make:
Airbnb is constantly evolving and the various platforms within FinTech (Tax Platform, Data Platform) work in partnership with the business teams to help deliver new and exciting initiatives. FinTech is a critical part of the growth of Airbnb’s service offerings.
Finance Technology is beginning a journey to rethink and re-architect how we can solve problems of our broader stakeholders - guests, hosts and jurisdictions. This team owns product domains that span indirect taxes (value added taxes, transient occupancy), direct taxes (tax withholding), invoices, tax id collection, critical data assets (compliance reporting, increasing supply, improving internal execution, providing management reporting)
