Platform Engineer

Air is a Creative Ops System for creative teams. Our product automates the mindless tasks that creatives and marketers do every day to manage content and unlocks creativity through image recognition, automated versioning, and approval workflows. We launched in March 2021 and have raised +$70m from world-class venture capital groups including Avenir, Tiger Global, Headline Ventures, Lerer Hippeau, WndrCo, and Slack Ventures.

The Role

Build and scale Air’s platform as our next Platform Engineer.

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, maintaining, and evolving the infrastructure that powers Air’s platform—while also contributing vertically through the stack to enable scalability and performance. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering teams to create secure, resilient, and efficient systems that empower our products to scale. Whether you're optimizing backend services, enhancing developer tooling, or tackling cloud infrastructure challenges, you’ll have direct ownership over key technical decisions.

At Air, we primarily work in TypeScript across our stack—React for our web app, Electron for our desktop app, and Node.js for our backend. Our infrastructure is built on AWS, making cloud expertise essential. Beyond infrastructure, you’re comfortable making meaningful contributions to the broader stack, helping to drive strategic platform initiatives forward.

To help us identify genuine candidates, include the code AIR-ENG-2025 in the designated field of the application form.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Experience managing and scaling large-scale production infrastructure
  • Strong systems engineering background with a focus on performance, reliability, and security
  • Ability to contribute across the stack—diving into application code when needed to optimize backend services or streamline developer workflows
  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript, Python, Java, or Go
  • Experience in the following:
    • Cloud infrastructure management (AWS services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, IAM, and networking)
    • CI/CD Pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins)
    • Containerization & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK)
    • Observability & Monitoring (Datadog, Prometheus, New Relic)
    • Database administration (Postgres, RDS Aurora, Elasticsearch, Redis)
  • Experience in security best practices across networking, applications, and data protection
  • Exposure to scaling distributed systems and high-volume event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC2, ISO 27001, GDPR is a plus
