Plant Operations Specialist

General Description:
The Operations Specialist in the Plant Operations department at HRL Laboratories, LLC, is responsible for managing processes and projects for the Director of Operations and the four departments within Operations:  Facilities, Shipping & Receiving, Equipment Repair and Machine Shop. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities for this position include project coordination, planning, problem solving, scheduling, budgeting, process and project documentation, managing databases, monitoring, and reporting.  The Operations Specialist works closely with the Operations Director on internal customer facing activities such as office space management, café management and other employee experience activities across the company. 
Duties will include on time and on budget delivery of tasks and projects, and a focus on exceptional customer service.  Suggest, create and improve processes and procedures, improve efficiency and effectiveness, and manage key projects and processes.  It will require the ability to change direction, remain flexible and respond quickly in a dynamic work environment.  This role will routinely exercise judgement and discretion with high visibility department projects and processes.
As this position teams with the leaders of the Operations departments, as well as leaders of the laboratories, it is critical that confidentiality is maintained at all times. 

Required Skills:
Experience with office protocols, including the ability to interface with a wide variety of people including technical laboratory experts as well as Administrative and Support employees.

·         Desired Skills:
o   Project Management knowledge and/or training
o   Experience working with laboratories including ISO Class 4 cleanrooms

Required Education:
High school diploma and 10+ years relevant Operations Specialist experience OR BS or BA degree in a relevant field of study and 5+ years relevant Operations Specialist experience.  Desired experience supporting departments such as Facilities, Shipping & Receiving, Equipment Repair and Machine shop.

Physical Requirements:
This position will require both office work, such as computer work and meetings, and access to all areas of the campus.    

Special Requirements:
HRL has multiple locations, this position will require the candidate to work out of all locations as needed.  The primary work assignment will be at the Thousand Oaks location.  Must have the ability to work flexible hours. 


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
