PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure reliability of plant equipment and minimize downtime in all production areas. Establish and meet downtime and operational goals for outlying areas such as warehousing, wastewater treatment and utilities.
- Manage training programs to maintain the skill level of the hourly and salaried workforce.
- Motivate interest in, and ensure compliance with, stringent plant safety programs while maintaining high levels of labor efficiency and effectiveness in responding to breakdowns and plant interruptions.
- Actively involve maintenance personnel in HAACP reviews and ensure their expertise is used to improve food safety wherever applicable.
- Maintain close communications with operations and other plant departments and develop an appreciation for overall plant performance issues in all employees within the department.
- Assist the Plant Manager in assuring continuous plant improvement
- Insure reliable and cost-effective operation of utility systems that are online continuously. This includes steam generation, ammonia refrigeration, air compression, electrical distribution and others.
- Develop capital investment ideas that support overall plant profitability and develop and maintain the organizational capability to accomplish these projects.
- Develop and maintain contractors and vendors to supplement plant resources. Represents the corporation in dealing with outside firms.
- Represent the entire plant’s needs and point of view in discussions, with corporate engineering, regarding technical standards, project scope development and accomplishment.
- Develop and grow a trusting relationship with the USDA to ensure that their requirements are being met, to apply Best Practice Methods with goals toward increasing efficiency, improving quality and safety. This includes validation activities, process controls, process improvements, cost savings programs, implementation of new processes, and all documentation and training involved.
- Generate production reports and spending on capital expense projects, weekly reports and graphs, budgets and accounting, work performance measurements and ergonomics. Run and maintain charts of current and historical performance for all objectives and targets.
- Management of Maintenance Mechanics. Actively participate in safety programs and training activities, as required. Conduct audits pertaining to Safety, Efficiencies, and Quality as necessary. Support, follow, and enforce JBS procedures and policies
- Process maintenance downtime reports for corporate and plant management. Assign work orders or special projects to Maintenance Mechanics.
- Conducts Daily Maintenance Personnel meetings to review work order assignments and address department issues; provides technical, mechanical, and/or electrical assistance throughout the shift

Interviews and hire candidates for maintenance or lead personnel positions.
EXPERIENCE:
10 years minimum of progressively more responsible positions within industrial maintenance field. Minimum of 5 years within a food processing industry
EDUCATION:
BS in Mech. or Elect. Engineering or equivalent applicable experience within a food production environment.
Salary Range $110k - 135k
