Plant Engineer/Head of Maintenance

Title of Supervisor: General Manager
Purpose & Scope: Overall responsibility for maintenance function within the facility.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Manage preventive/predictive maintenance systems for facility
- Ensure that the maintenance division complies with all Food Safety, Personal safety and environmental programs, regulations, and directives
- Oversight of refrigeration/boiler systems including predictive/preventive maintenance programs
- Oversight of electrical systems including predictive/preventive maintenance programs
- Interview and hire new employees for department; make promotion and transfer decisions
- Assure the duties, responsibilities, and authority of each job are clearly defined, effective, and communicated to incumbents
- Execute plant-specific vision and mission to assure continuous improvement and alignment with corporate vision.
- Ensure that properly resourced department and that all resources are efficiently utilized.
- Direct maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service.
- Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting/problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and Maximize uptime.
- Provide leadership in implementing/maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Ensure that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained.
- Manage the buildings and grounds such that good manufacturing practices (GMP) are adhered to and a professional appearance is maintained.
- Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime/inefficient operational issues.
- Schedule mandatory inspections and coordinate certifications with appropriate authorities.
- Ensure environmental compliance.
- Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.
- Effectively communicate results and action plans to appropriate employees and managers.
- Effectively maintain the following machines: Bizerba, Flow Wrap, Overwrap, Mondini, Multivac, Marel, Grasseli, Bandsaw. Tote Scale, Vmag, Tray Denester, Mother Bagger, Cryovac, Pacmac, Trave, Omari, and any other equipment as needed.
- Collaborate directly with human resources to insure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
- Collaborate with finance to execute a maintenance budget to insure that financial allocations and obligations are set, administered and met.
- Initiate cost savings measures.
- Ensure all plant maintenance operations are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
- Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.

Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing, Production Operations
Experience:
- Significant amount of experience with managing three shift maintenance division

3-5 Years Maintenance Management experience
- 7-10 Years maintenance department execution experience in a manufacturing environment
- Individuals with SAP knowledge are preferred
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Food industry and experience in a union/union free environment preferred
- Key Leadership Competencies in addition to Ethics/Values and Integrity/Trust.
Special Skills:
- Working knowledge of boiler/refrigeration systems/waste water
- Good communication skills/ability to build a World Class Maintenance Division/team
- Ability to read/understand spreadsheets/blueprints/contracts/AutoCAD
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA, USDA, EPA, FDA regulations/directives as they pertain to our business and core values
Relationships
Internal: Maintenance team, Corporate Engineering
External: Compliance with OSHA, USDA, EPA, and FDA laws and regulations. State and federal agency representatives. Suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts for products/services.
Supervision of Personnel: Maintenance Staff, Maintenance Coordinator
